Rustic Nevada Engagement from Josh and Jen Photography

As outdoor enthusiasts, Lauren and Shane are energetic people who love to go rock climbing, hiking, camping, backpacking, kayaking, and road biking. In fact, their mutual love of outdoor adventure was how they met – during a hiking group meet-up. Their Nevada engagement shoot, among the gorgeous red rocks and wildflowers, with Josh and Jen Photography, looks like a ton of fun! Read below for more details, including their romantic proposal story. Congrats Lauren and Shane!

Before the Ring:

Shane and I met at a hiking group meet-up in Mt. Charleston. I had already been a member of the group for about two years and I enjoyed hiking with them regularly. When I first spotted Shane as a visitor to the group, I immediately noticed how attractive he was. I was happily single at the time and I was a little apprehensive about the idea of meeting someone new, so I did my best to avoid him on the trail that day. Shane says he noticed me right away and tried his best to get within conversation distance so he could speak to me. He always jokes about how out of breath he was on that trail because I was desperately trying to keep my distance by out-hiking him. Needless to say I couldn’t out-hike him forever and the rest is history. Since then Shane and I have become the ultimate adventure partners. We regularly plan adventures like backpacking in the Zion Narrows or ice climbing in Alaska. We are most excited to embark our biggest adventure yet this May (marriage!).

The Proposal:

Shane purposed to me on a weekend getaway at the Queen Marry in Long Beach, CA. The historic ship has been turned into a hotel with the original rooms redone to suit all modern needs. It was such a romantic and beautiful ship. On our second night we got all dressed up and had dinner on board at Sir Winston’s, their fine dining restaurant. After dinner we strolled around the deck of the ship overlooking the water talking about “us”. That’s when Shane surprised me with a ring and popped the question. I was so excited that I was nearly speechless! We immediately went inside and ordered champagne to celebrate. I spent the next few minutes texting everyone the news. It turns out my best friend and my family already knew and had been anxiously waiting to hear from me all evening.
