Rustic Lakeside North Carolina Wedding {Kelly Rae Stewart Photography}

Nestled between the woods and a lake in Thomasville, North Carolina, is the beautiful Angel’s Cottage, where Timothy and Kayla tied the knot. They had their first look in the woods, a beautiful ceremony surrounded by trees and loved ones, and a view of the lake at their reception. These two have an absolutely adorable love story (read below), the kind that most girls dream about, and their day was filled with so many thoughtful, handmade rustic details. Rustic signs, burlap around the bouquet, and on the tables, and pretty pink and ivory colors created the perfect natural style for these two love birds. During their ceremony they included their guests in a special way by setting aside time for a personal moment with each person (also below). Thank you Kelly Rae Stewart for sharing these images, and congrats to the lovely couple!

From the Bride…

Before the Ring:
Timothy and I met when we were 12 and 13 years old in our youth group during middle school! We were best friends during high school and finally started dating when I was 16 and he was 17. I was his first and only girlfriend and he was my first and only boyfriend.

The Proposal:
Timothy proposed to me on February 11, 2012. He was in college at NCSU and traveled home to celebrate Valentine’s Day early. I thought we were simply going out to dinner for Valentine’s Day. Little did I know, but he had already asked my father’s permission and talked with the manager of the restaurant to plan everything out. We went to the restaurant and I noticed we were the only table with a candle and everyone kept smiling at me, but I still did not put ANY pieces together; I am quite naive 🙂 However, the manager said he wanted to go get his camera to take a picture of us because he thought we were so “cute,” ha! When he returned, Timothy proposed in front of everyone at the restaurant, and I, of course, said yes!

Inspiration/details of the wedding day:
We wanted our wedding day to be small and family-oriented. I am so biased, but I absolutely love everything about our wedding. I wanted light colors to be the theme: light pink, tan, and ivory. I wanted it to be so natural and absolutely perfect. We also wanted to represent our relationship with God through our wedding.

Most memorable moment/s:
We wanted our wedding to personal. Instead of a general candle or sand unity, our guests were each given a flower at the beginning of the ceremony. During our ceremony, we had a time set aside for all of our quests to walk up and place their flower in a large vase and personally hug both of us. It was such a beautiful moment–one with tears–but something we both will never forget.
