Midsummer Day Dream Inspired Shoot by Locally Grown Weddings

A natural hair crown of vibrant pink and purple blossoms, a dreamy hillside, and a warm, energetic smile make for such a whimsical inspired shoot. The talented team at Locally Grown Weddings infused this shoot with fantasy and a touch of romance. I’ve long been a fan of the Shakespearian tale, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and this shoot gives it a fresh, day-time spin. I love the 1930’s slip dress which creates a beautiful canvas from which the bouquet and hair piece can really shine. Aurora Meneghello took these magical pictues – take a look.

From Aurora of Locally Grown Weddings:

Madeline, the architect behind the shoot, found inspiration from romantic painters such as Herbert James Draper, Charles Shannon and John William Waterhouse. They all bring a soft and dreamy approach to their work, and we wanted to showcase a look that was both classic and whimsical. We used soft muted colors and textiles to lend the feminine touch, and added in some fantastic vintage pieces like the gorgeous chaise lounge. The top of Bernal Hill provided us with the perfect backdrop, fit for a fairy princess.

The dress was actually a slip from the 1930’s and would typically have been worn underneath a wedding gown, but it was just so simple and elegant on its own that we wanted to showcase its beauty. Angela is a huge fan of clothing from this era, particularly dresses that are cut on the bias like this slip. The color palette for the makeup was all about pastels, and the demi-lash Angela applied to the outer edges of Mandy’s eyes gave that delicate, doe-eyed look. A touch of light pink lip gloss completed the romance. And with the crisp and clear winter day that we had, Aurora was able to use just natural light to capture the softness and beauty our lovely model, Mandy. The florals carried this light and sweet theme, as Madeline incorporated soft pink tulips, heather, vintage trim and lace into the bouquet and boutonnieres, as well as the gorgeous floral headpiece.

Beautifully done! I adore the angles at which some of the images were shot. Lovely and pretty. The flowers are stunning and I am a sucker for a floral headpiece everytime.
