Martha’s Vineyard Farm to Table Wedding {Dreamlove Photography}

Alexis and Ramsay are two farmers at heart (they met at an organic farming apprenticeship program!) and decided to get hitched on Martha’s Vineyard where they had local organic food, a rustic ceremony, and stunning flowers grown locally on the island. The beautiful scenery blended perfectly with their country chic centerpieces – local pink and red blooms bursting from a variety of vintage containers. Each table had its own garden theme and was designated by vintage seed packets. They held their wedding at the Tower House in Chilmark where they had a gorgeous ocean view and a homegrown garden feel. We love the fresh, relaxed ambiance of their special September day. Thank you so much Dreamlove Photography for sharing this stunning wedding with us! Read below for more about these two!

From the Bride…

Before the Ring:
We met in Santa Cruz ca at an organic farming apprenticeship program- called CASFS (center for agroecology and sustainable food systems). It was a six month program and we all lived on the farm in tents. Ramsey and I were tent neighbors and became friends early on. About two months in we started to feel more and went on a road trip. That is when we discovered we were meant for each other – while camping in big sur.

The Proposal:
Ramsey proposed to me during the full moon in February at a beautiful beach. I had no idea it was coming, and he said the most beautiful, wonderful things. It was easy to say yes!

Inspiration for the Day:
My inspiration for the wedding day was a farm-to-table, homegrown feeling. I grew up summering on Martha’s Vineyard and had also lived there year round for a few years working on an organic farm. I wanted to keep the wedding simple yet scrumptious, with all local and organic food and flowers grown and arranged by a dear friend, Krishana Collins of Tea Lane Farm.  My mom is also extremely creative and found amazing little touches that took it over the top. Choosing a site with a view was also essential as the ocean is what ties us together.

Most Memorable Moment/s:
Our ceremony was amazing! We designed each aspect of the ceremony creating a unique and deeply meaningful experience. Our guests played an active role in creating the space to bless our union- it was magical!  Some other highlights were my dress strap breaking and having to see it back on with dental floss, a party wide dance circle, my sisters and brother-in-law singing Don’t Stop Believing, and the delicious homemade pies for dessert (my sisters, my mom, and I made all 30 of them!!).

Advice to Future Couples:
Don’t over plan because things always change and you don’t want to be stressed, you want to be able to enjoy each and every moment. Also hiring a day of wedding planner or designating a good friend as the planner could be a good idea. I wish I had one as I was fielding flower and caterer questions while I was also getting ready! Oh, and if you have an outdoor wedding get a microphone so everyone can hear you! People really appreciated that.
