Light Blue Country Wedding with Rustic & DIY Details

Tylar and Erick tied the knot on their fifth anniversary this July! Their gorgeous rustic wedding at Cedar Bend Events was filled with lush flowers, lanterns and deer antlers. Soft mint blue and blush tones were carried throughout for a romantic vibe and accented with rustic wood details. “We wanted our wedding to be on the smaller scale, so we just invited family and a handful of friends. I wanted to make our wedding as much family oriented as I could,” says Tylar. As parting favors, they made 150 jars of her grandma’s homemade spicy pickles, and created the wood centerpieces bases from a tree that fell over at her late grandmother’s house. Her cousin was their calligrapher, and the desserts were baked by a family friend. “I knew from the beginning of planning that I wanted “naked” cakes!” Angela King Photography is behind the lens.

From the Bride…

Before the Ring:
We first met in 2009 through a mutual friend but we were both in different places in our lives so we were just acquaintances. He had just moved to my hometown, Bastrop, and I was finishing up school at Texas A&M. We didn’t officially become friends until I moved back to Bastrop after graduating in 2010 when we were at a friend’s birthday party in May. After hanging out for the summer we had our first “official” date at Pappadeaux in Austin and beginning dating on July 17th. The rest is history 😉

The Proposal Story:
I thought we were just going on a date night to go eat at our favorite place… Pappadeaux. His plan was to pick me up at work and head to San Antonio for the night. Erick’s job requires him to be gone 16 days at a time and he only has 5 days off, so we hadn’t had a “date night” in a really long time. After he picked me up from work, we got to the restaurant and ordered our appetizers and drinks. I’d been dying for some delicious seafood all week. I got a call from my mom at that time asking what we were doing. I thought this was extremely odd since we just dropped our dogs off at their house so they could watch them for the night. She knew what we were doing… eating dinner. So I hung up and we went about the night. A little later, Erick looks at me and with the most serious face and says, “I’ve got something to tell you. I’ve been lying to you.” My face probably turned sheet white and my heart was about to pound right out of my chest. Of course, I imagined the most awful scenarios. He held my hand and said, “I lied to you about the reason why I brought you here tonight. I brought you here to ask you if you would be my wife?” He pulled out a red box and opened it up. The most gorgeous ring ever was inside. I may be biased 😉 I remember saying “shut up! Are you kidding me? Is this real life? I mean, is this for real? Shut up!” Haha, he had to reassure me a few times that it was indeed real life.
