British Columbia Backyard Wedding from Chiffon Photography

Arla and Ben created a rustic, vintage wedding with tons of DIY details – a vintage looking candy table, homemade jam favors, and rustic burlap and lace banners. Their venue in Aldergrove, B.C., Canada, was the perfect natural setting for their September celebration. The reception, which took place in a newly built barn owned by family friends, was filled with gorgeous tables settings, pretty white lights and branch centerpieces. I love the antique car they had for the photos, and the various blush tones of the bridesmaid dresses. This was truly a beautiful event! Read below for Arla and Ben’s story.

Arla and Ben’s Love Story (as told by the bride):

Ben and I have known of each other for years, we share the same cousins and no we are not related. We hit things off at our cousins wedding in the Okanogan in 2010. Ben was on summer holiday visiting from Fort St. John. He was here for 2 weeks and in that time we went on many dates and by the end of It I had asked him out (he was chicken I think). We spent many hours talking on the phone over the course of the next year. Shortly after we started dating, my dad was diagnosed with cancer and the pressure was on to get married as I was daddies little girl and wanted him there. After a year of dating we had planned a trip to Mexico but didn’t get to Mexico as Ben’s passport had gone through the wash and they wouldn’t let us go. I was devastated as I a assumed and was hoping we were going to be getting engaged on this trip – long story short we ended up in Maui for 10 days with my parents.  It turned out to be a wonderful trip. We went on a dinner sunset cruise and that is where Ben asked me to marry him. I said YES, of course, and a year later we were married on September 1st, 2012. It was the most perfect day! We are still living apart but I will be moving to Fort St. John B.C. in Jan 2013.

The barn belongs to friends of the family. I’m not sure if they rent it out, but I will see what I can find out for you : )
