North Carolina Farm Engagement {Kelly Rae Stewart Photography}

Brittney and Ryan, a teacher and musician respectively, had their engagement photo session at Brittney’s family farm among her horses and the beautiful wildflowers. Kelly of Kelly Rae Stewart Photography captured so many cute photos of these two it was seriously hard to pick what to feature today! Some couples simply seem so natural together and that is certainly the case with these two. For Brittney and Ryan it was love at first sight and this outdoorsy duo has a beautiful story (below) which will melt your heart.

Before the Ring (from the Groom):
We met the summer of 2011. My cousin was visiting me in Florida and Brittney was in Ireland at the time since she had just graduated from college the month before. I overheard my cousin say that she and Brittney wanted to get together over the summer, but had no clue how to make it happen. So I got in touch with Brittney via Facebook since she was in Ireland. As soon as she returned, we surprised my cousin by flying Brittney down to Florida for the remainder of the summer. Both Brittney and I had been told about each other for the past 2 years and it wasn’t until that Florida trip that we met. The moment Brittney walked out of the terminal of the airport my breath was knocked out of me. We instantly clicked!

The Proposal (from the Groom):
Brittney and I really enjoy hiking. So in March, 2012 I planned a special engagement disguised as a hiking trip at Grandfather Mountain in Boone, NC. She had no clue where we were going. At the top of the mountain there is a mile-high swinging bridge. So we crossed it and on the other side was a cliff. I am terrified of heights so I found the edge of the cliff to be the perfect place. I brought Brittney to the edge of the cliff. This was terrifying for a multiple reasons. 1) I was on the edge of a cliff and hated heights and 2) I was about to propose. I got to the edge of the cliff and told Brittney that I wanted to conquer so much with her and one of those things would be to conquer our fears as a team. Then I got down on one knee on the VERY edge of the cliff and proposed. That night I left on the road to Nashville for a month long music tour across the country. I had planned the date and time of the proposal way before the music tour dropped into to place. Talk about crazy timing!
