Here at Sweet Violet Bride, it is always extremely exciting to learn of a designer that creates with the green bride in mind. Eugenia Couture is known for creating stunning and classically beautiful silhouettes, while remaining eco-friendly. They utilize a Zero-Waste design model, which ensures that all excess materials from one gown are used toward the creation of another. Now that’s gorgeous! The new 2014 collection pays tribute to the 1920’s, with delicate laces, draping fabrics, detailed backs, and intricate beadwork. Feminine silhouettes and crystal embellishments capture the beauty of the female form, having a vintage aesthetic with a modern feel. I think these are the perfect dresses for a chic garden wedding. This newest collection from Eugenia Couture is extra exciting, as Eugenia has named her daughter Barbara as the new principal designer.
In addition, rather than using the harsh chemicals, dyes, and bleaches that most bridal gowns are made with, Eugenia Couture sets themselves apart by using domestically-sourced natural materials and innovative techniques. Taking the Lead Designer reins from her mother in 2012, Barbara says, “I feel a great responsibility to the brand, to the brides, and to the boutiques.” Barbara has brought a unique and modern twist to the classic Eugenia style. With classical training in both drawing and painting, she has contributed a number of fine-art techniques to the design process, including the addition of hand-painted gowns. Inspired by beautiful textiles, great works of art, and history’s classic beauties, Barbara seeks to recreate perfection with every new design. I, for one, am thrilled with these 2014 designs (you can see more of them here), and can’t wait to see what Barbara will do next!
