What a gorgeous day Emma and Jaan had for their engagement session! Emma is from the States and Jaan is from Belgium and they actually met in Spain, on the pilgrimage known as ‘El Camino del Santiago’ or ‘The Way of St. James.’ They bonded over hiking boots and the scenic Spanish landscapes, and they’ve been together ever since! The couple is currently living in Washington, DC, but they wanted a rural engagement session to represent how they met and what they love to do as a couple – be outdoors and in nature. Read more about this outdoorsy couple below.
Emma and Jaan met on the Camino de Santiago, a trek across Northern Spain. They met 150km into the hike and finished the 580km together. After completing the hike, Emma and Jaan took turns visiting one another in their respective countries, US and Belgium. A year later, at the end of Emma’s summer studying in Belgium, Jaan proposed via an elaborate 17 hour scavenger hunt that spanned three countries. He proposed with Emma’s great-great grandmother’s engagement ring which he had flown into Belgium for the occasion. They now live together in Washington, DC and plan to marry on a beach in Hawaii.
