Wedding Flower Inspiration: Craspedia

by in — Updated August 29, 2013

As we transition into autumn, there’s nothing quite like the glow of yellow, reminiscent of the turning leaves, golden fields, and changing light. Craspedia (say crass-PEE-dee-uh), also referred to as billy balls or billy buttons, is a sure-fire way of adding a punch of yellow to any arrangement. In the daisy family, these sculptural, lollipop shaped blooms can often be found as dried flowers and their long sturdy stems enable them to be displayed solo for a beautiful and simple look (perfect for rustic centerpieces). They’ll easily add texture to bouquets and work wonderfully for boutonnieres. As you can see below they pair well with tones of green, blue, and pink. 1. I love these for a Summer Wedding – a great pop of colour, but very natural looking too.
