“I always loved the energy of Chicago,” Regina said. “It was sort of by accident that I ended up living so close; it was the most convenient place to live because of work, and it just so happened that I fell in love with all the excitement and action of the city.”

When things slowed down at work and Regina had a week off during the summer, she decided to explore Chicago in more detail. Even after living in the area for a few years, she still felt as though she had only scratched the surface of places to see in the city.

“Chicago is just so big, which is what I like about it,” Regina explained. “There’s always something new, and even when you think you’ve seen it all, there’s something new to surprise you. For my one week break, I decided to find photographers in my area in Chicago to do a photoshoot as well. It seemed like a good way to commemorate my time living here, and I would have the benefit of having a local with me who could suggest places to go.”

For the first day of her exploration of Chicago, Regina decided to visit the Chicago Institute of Art. She had been to the museum a few times in the past, but never had enough time to really look at the displays in detail. A huge fan of Impressionist artwork, Regina enjoyed looking through the galleries and seeing masterpieces by artists like Van Gogh and Monet.

The photographer in Chicago had agreed to meet Regina in Millennium Park. This was another place Regina had been occasionally but never stopped to appreciate. The photographer described it as a favorite spot in Chicago since it was both iconic and unique.

“I was happy that I found the photographer from Localgrapher,” said Regina. “I knew a lot about Chicago, but doing the photoshoot felt like I had the opportunity to see things from a new perspective too. I think anyone could find photographers in your area in Chicago to do something similar; the photoshoot was a lot of fun and gave me a fresh look at the city.”

Regina and the photographer did some classic shots with the famous “Bean” of Millennium Park and then walked around to a few other locations the photographer suggested for pictures of the city. With the skyline of Chicago in the background, Regina knew that her photographs would capture the special qualities she had come to appreciate so much about the place she lived. Even though she wasn’t traveling or planning a long trip, her week break and adventures in Chicago ended up feeling like a vacation too and made her grateful to live so close to a vibrant and fun city like Chicago.

effortless style and Katie from Going Steady Studio add some of her flowers add to it.

The Rustic Florals and Teepee

Katie from Going Steady Studio made all of bouquet and head piece all on-site by tying what she had brought
and what was on the ground. Creative and ingenious!

The Stylized Cake

This styled cake from Irene’s Dessert Table together with Blaque Iris Catering & Event Planning is definitely perfect for this boho theme. Flowers and baskets that show a rustic aesthetic.

The Bride and Groom Ensembles

The bride dressed in Signature Bridal Salon court train lace dress exhibits a classic southern belle. The cascading bouquet made up of roses and foliage added a glam and rustic touch to her whole look. The groom’s blue suit sure is classic and sophisticated — a little change from the traditional black suit. And instead of a pocket square, the groom got a pad of tiny succulents to stay with the succulents and organic theme.

The Ceremony Venue

The big window creates for a dramatic lighting that gives a mysterious silhouette as the bride enters. Such a breathtaking scene! The candle chandelier and succulents lining the aisle complemented well the simpleness of the barn.

Each table was designed to subtle and dainty to bear the southern vibes.

The Buffet Table

The elaborate centerpieces and table runners are definitely out of the norm! I love the green lush spread on the buffet tables along with the fresh fruits and veggies. Succulents were also significant in the theme they were going for. Looking at these photos made me hungry! What a feast!

The Models

Aimee and Jim’s love just jumps out of the photos. They were selected as models, but their actual wedding will take place in June of 2018 and our team will be their photographers. They met through mutual friends and their love of the water is what drew them together.

The Venue

This beautiful flower farm has just opened its doors to small wedding ceremonies. They sell flowers to some amazing local vendors who create magic for other weddings and events. They got dahlias, roses, peonies, herbs, lavender and so much more – definitely a florist’s heaven. Lynda showed up with her scissors and ribbon and created all the floral pieces on site.

The Outfits

Wearing a Dove grey Truvelle gown, Regal but angelic is our bride for today. The groom is looking handsome in his linen shirt and vest to complete the color scheme. A herb crown for her and blueberry boutonniere for him.

The Bouquet

Flowers featured in this bouquet consisted of the highly sought after Cafe au Lait Dahlias, beautiful Garden Roses and Hydrangeas. An abundance of Herbs including Lemon Verbena, Rosemary and Lavender for a sweet summer scent and touches of Blueberries added a fun twist to the combination. Ribbons used are a Plant Dyed Silk which complemented this all natural, ethereal styled bouquet perfectly.

The Table Setting

The table was set up using the natural elements such as the succulents, cactus, the flowers from the farm and the potted plants. The dessert plate was hand carved with the local fresh blueberries as another element.

The Bridal Style

The bride wore this Adrianna Papell dress that has a 20’s vibe which I think is elegant and chic. It actually goes well with the woodsy bohemian theme. Plus that vibrant bouquet completed her whole look. LOVE!

The Mini Cocktail Bar

This is the cocktail trolley I was talking about! I’ve always wanted something like this in my house for whenever a random house party goes down. When you have this on your reception it’d be like a water cooler feels. It’s a great thing for small talks and catching ups!

Table Setting #1

Kelly Williams wanted to show two different styles of an outdoor bohemian wedding with these two table settings. The first one is a traditional setup with fancy crockery in muted blues and gold. This setup leans toward a little more formal setup.

Table Setting #2

The second setup is I’d say more bohemian and raw but staying elegant. It’s more of a casual sit down occasion. Instead of the fancy crockery, wooden plated were used. Kelly also did some foraging to use as the centerpiece — very organic!
