A wedding bar is more than a place to grab a drink. It brings people together, fills quiet moments with conversation, and adds personality to the reception. For couples planning a DIY or budget-conscious wedding, building your own bar is one of the smartest projects you can take on. It is practical, creative, and surprisingly fun when done right.

This guide breaks everything down step by step, so you can create an epic DIY wedding bar that looks intentional, works smoothly, and fits your budget.

Why a DIY Wedding Bar Just Makes Sense

For many couples, the bar is one of the biggest reception expenses. Packages add up fast, especially with per person pricing. A DIY wedding bar gives you control. You decide what to serve, how much to buy, and where to spend or save. That means you can design something that feels like you, not a generic setup pulled from a package.

Another perk is flexibility. Maybe your crowd loves beer and bourbon but skips wine. Maybe signature cocktails are your thing. With a DIY wedding bar, you skip what you do not need and lean into what your guests will actually enjoy.

And let’s be honest, guests love a bar that feels personal. A handwritten cocktail sign or a drink named after your dog beats a generic open bar any day.

Step One: Start With Smart Planning and Layout

Before buying a single bottle, think through the basics. Will this be the main bar or a secondary station. Will it be open all night or only during cocktail hour. Do you want guests to hang out there or just grab drinks and move on.

When sketching out wedding bar setup ideas, location matters more than décor at first. Place the bar near the dance floor or reception center so it naturally becomes a gathering spot. Avoid tight corners that cause lines to back up.

Size is another biggie. A six foot bar works for smaller weddings. Larger guest lists may need eight feet or two bars to keep things moving. If you are outdoors, think about shade and weather just in case.

Finally, check your venue rules. Some require licensed bartenders or specific alcohol permits. Planning early saves stress later.

Step Two: Choosing What to Serve Without Overbuying

Less is more when it comes to a DIY wedding bar. You do not need every spirit under the sun. Stick to crowd pleasers.

Many couples choose two signature cocktails, one light and one bold. Add wine, beer, and a non alcoholic option, and you are set. Label everything clearly so guests do not have to ask questions.

Use online calculators to estimate quantities, then round up slightly. Running out is worse than having leftovers. Leftover bottles can often be returned if unopened, depending on your state.

Step Three: Unique Wedding Bar Ideas That Look Intentional

Here is the secret sauce. With unique wedding bar ideas, you can turn a simple bar into a moment.

Start with a clear theme or vibe. Rustic, modern, garden party, moody lounge. Let that guide your choices. Wedding bar décor does not need to be expensive to feel cohesive.

Use what you already have. Wooden crates become shelving. An old dresser makes a charming back bar. Mirrors can double as menu boards with paint pens.

Lighting matters more than people realize. String lights, lanterns, or LED candles instantly soften the space and make it feel welcoming. Even a simple bar glows with the right lighting.

Signage also pulls everything together. A clean drink menu keeps lines moving and adds style at the same time.

If you want to save time or go big, you can also check out wedding bar rentals in Kentucky, Louisville, and Southern Indiana for stylish, ready-to-use options.

Step Four: Pick the Right Wedding Bar Furniture

Furniture is what turns a bar into a destination. Without it, guests grab drinks and leave. With it, they stay, talk, and relax.

At minimum, you need a sturdy bar surface, storage behind the bar, and room for ice and glassware. Folding bars or portable event bars are popular for a reason. They are simple and easy to dress up.

If you want a more elevated look, think about a wedding bar furniture rental that fits your style. Wood finishes feel warm. Sleek white bars feel modern. Either can work beautifully in a DIY setup.

Behind the bar, shelves or a backdrop add height and interest. Even a fabric drape can make the area feel finished.

Step Five: Create a Wedding Cocktail Lounge Around the Bar

Here is where your unique DIY wedding bar really shines. Turn it into a social hub, not just a stop for drinks.

A wedding cocktail lounge does not need much. A rug to define the area, a few chairs, and soft lighting are enough. Keep the layout open so guests can move easily.

Bar lounge seating for weddings works especially well during cocktail hour and later in the evening when guests want a quieter spot to talk.

For couples hosting Louisville & Southern Indiana weddings, lounge pieces are easy to add without breaking the budget. Many Kentuckiana wedding rentals offer flexible options for DIY wedding bars.

If you want to simplify sourcing, consider using lounge furniture rentals in Southern Indiana to define your bar area with comfortable, stylish seating that guests will actually use.

Step Six: Keep Costs Under Control

DIY projects only save money if you plan them carefully. Set a clear budget for your DIY wedding bar and stick to it.

Borrow décor from friends. Shop secondhand. Use items that serve more than one purpose. Ceremony backdrops can move behind the bar. Signs can be reused throughout the venue.

If you are sourcing wedding bar rentals, focus on essentials. Event bar furniture, seating, and lighting usually give you the biggest return on investment.

For couples in Louisville and Southern Indiana, local vendors can offer smart advice on layouts and setups that save time, space, and money.

How a Wedding Bar Becomes the Heart of the Party

When done thoughtfully, a wedding bar doubles as a wedding cocktail lounge. It becomes a place where grandparents chat, friends reconnect, and couples sneak away for a breather.

Arrange seating in small clusters so people can talk without shouting. Keep music volume in mind. A lounge near the bar but away from speakers gives guests options.

Add a few personal touches. Framed photos, custom coasters, or a trivia card about the couple spark conversation and smiles.

This approach also helps your timeline. While the dance floor heats up, the bar lounge stays busy. Everyone finds their comfort zone.

Practical Tips to Keep Things Running Smoothly

A DIY wedding bar works best when logistics are nailed down.

Hire at least one experienced bartender if you can. It keeps lines short and prevents spills. Friends want to celebrate, not work all night.

Stock extra ice and stash it close by. Ice always runs out faster than expected.

Label everything clearly. Guests should know where to grab water, where to return glasses, and what drinks are available.

And finally, do a walk through before guests arrive. Check lighting, flow, and accessibility. Small tweaks make a big difference.

Frequently Asked Questions

You Can Pull This Off, Promise

Creating a stylish DIY wedding bar is not about cutting corners. It is about making intentional choices that reflect you. With smart planning, thoughtful styling, and the right mix of furniture and seating, your bar can look amazing and feel welcoming.

Remember, guests care less about premium labels and more about the atmosphere you create. A warm smile, a well-mixed drink, and a cozy place to sit go a long way. Stay flexible. And know that an unforgettable wedding bar does not require overspending. It just needs heart, creativity, and a little planning.

Committing to spending the rest of your life with someone is a lifechanging moment worthy of being honored with a beautiful ring that will go the distance with your relationship. But how to make sure it’s a piece your or your partner will love forever? Concentrate on designs that are timeless.

Why choose a timeless ring?

It’s easy to be led by the latest celebrity-influenced engagement ring trends, like the move to chunky gold bands with bezel-set stones influenced by the likes of Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus. However, these change in cycles just like all jewelry and new heralded designs don’t usually stay fashionable for long, so choosing solely based on what’s ‘in vogue’ puts you at risk of disliking the design further down the line, the last thing you want for a forever piece of jewelry.

In contrast, timeless designs are always in style, so there’s a greater likelihood of a timeless ring aging well with you through all eras of your life. Your engagement ring represents special love and should inspire warmth and happiness with every glance.

What makes a design timeless?

Enduring styles

There are several engagement ring styles that have been around for centuries, beloved by every generation for their matchless beauty. You’ll find plenty of variety within these styles, from glamorous dazzling halo engagement rings to sophisticated solitaire diamond rings and romantic trilogy or toi-et-moi designs. Vintage pieces and modern rings with lab-grown diamonds are affordable ways to access classic styles.

Emotional significance

What truly makes your engagement ring timeless is the meaning it holds for you. Whenever you look down at your sparkler, you’ll be reminded of your enduring love and commitment. Secret touches such as an engraving on the inner band or a hidden halo setting will help ensure a lasting love for this special piece. You could even go the whole hog and design the engagement ring from scratch as a dedication of your love.

Quality craftsmanship

A distinguishing factor in all timeless clothing and accessories is excellent craftsmanship. The pieces can literally go the distance with you through the years, maintaining their look because they’re well-made from hard-wearing materials. Prioritize quality precious metals like scratch-resistant platinum or durable 18-karat yellow gold and secure settings when browsing rings. When buying diamonds, always look for independent certification from organizations like the Gemological Institute of America to confirm grading.

Personal alignment

Lastly, and most importantly, a timeless engagement ring is one that suits your personal style. Get the color, composition and character right, and it will feel like a natural extension of you, now and in years to come. Carefully consider existing style features, checking for a preference for silver- or gold-colored jewelry or minimalism versus bold expression, and apply your findings to the engagement ring.

Planning an event—whether it’s a wedding, milestone birthday, or corporate celebration—requires a balancing act of vision, logistics, and timing. One of the most common regrets among hosts is not booking essential vendors and services early enough. From venues to bartenders for events, the best professionals often get snapped up quickly. So how early is early enough?

Here’s a detailed guide to help you secure the must-haves for your big day—without the stress of last-minute chaos.

The Golden Rule: Start Early, Stay Flexible

Before diving into timelines, one truth stands out: the earlier you start, the better. Giving yourself a wide runway ensures you have access to top-rated vendors, a choice of venues, and the ability to pivot if something doesn’t go as planned.

But how early is early enough? That depends on the type and size of your event.

12 to 18 Months Before: Book Your Venue

Your venue sets the stage—literally—for your entire event. Popular wedding venues, event halls, and even unique spaces like vineyards or lofts can be fully booked more than a year in advance, especially during peak seasons (spring and fall for weddings, December for holiday parties).

Tip: Tour venues early and be prepared to put down a deposit quickly if you find “the one.” Once the venue is locked in, you can set your date with confidence and start booking the rest.

10 to 12 Months Before: Hire Your Core Vendors

Once your venue is secured, it’s time to book the key players who will shape the experience:

Photographer/Videographer: Top professionals often book over a year in advance. If your event date is non-negotiable, don’t delay.

Caterers: Many venues have a preferred list, but if you’re sourcing your own, begin tasting sessions and comparing packages early.

Entertainment: Whether it’s a DJ, live band, or both, music services should be locked in at least 10 months in advance.

Planner/Coordinator: If you’re hiring an event planner, earlier is better—especially if you want their help with vendor selection.

8 to 10 Months Before: Secure Specialty Services

By now, your event blueprint should be taking shape. It’s time to fill in the details that enhance the atmosphere.

This includes florists, décor designers, lighting professionals, and bar services. For example, if you’re planning to hire bar service, don’t assume it can be added at the last minute. Many professional services offer mobile bar setups, custom drink menus, and certified bartenders—and their availability can dwindle fast during busy months.

Pro Tip: Ask your bar service if they provide glassware, mixers, and garnishes, or if those need to be sourced separately. Early communication avoids last-minute hiccups.

6 to 8 Months Before: Send Save-the-Dates and Book Secondary Vendors

Now that your major vendors are locked in, start notifying your guests, especially if it’s a destination event. At this point, it’s also time to book:

Transportation services (buses, limos)

Rentals (tables, chairs, tents, linens)

Hair and makeup artists

Specialty entertainment (magicians, dancers, photo booths)

This is also a good time to think about bartenders for events, particularly if your venue doesn’t include one. Hiring professionals ensures your guests enjoy expertly crafted drinks and you stay in compliance with local liquor laws.

4 to 6 Months Before: Final Touches and Guest Management

It’s easy to overlook these smaller items, but they’re just as important to the event experience. Start designing and ordering:

Invitations

Signage

Party favors

Event programs or itineraries

Also, finalize your guest list and start collecting RSVPs. The sooner you have an accurate headcount, the easier it is to manage seating arrangements and catering quantities.

2 to 3 Months Before: Confirm, Confirm, Confirm

This is the “triple-check” stage. Go through each vendor and make sure contracts are signed, deposits are paid, and final walkthroughs or tastings are scheduled.

Also, touch base with your venue to confirm logistics—arrival times, access for vendors, and setup/teardown plans.

1 Month Before: Final Details

With just weeks to go, it’s time to:

Provide final headcounts to vendors

Distribute a detailed schedule to your team or planner

Confirm music playlists, ceremony details, and speeches

Assemble gift bags or welcome kits if needed

1 Week Before: Breathe and Enjoy

By this point, all major tasks should be done. Use the week before your event to take care of yourself, handle last-minute errands, and mentally prepare to enjoy the celebration you’ve worked so hard to plan.

Booking vendors and planning an event isn’t just about ticking boxes—it’s about crafting an experience. From the atmosphere of your venue to the flavors in each cocktail, every detail plays a role in bringing your vision to life.

Starting early not only guarantees a better selection but also gives you the freedom to make thoughtful decisions without the pressure of a ticking clock. Whether you’re booking florals, food, or bartenders for events, getting ahead of the game is the best gift you can give yourself—and your guests.

So take out that calendar, mark your ideal event date, and work backward from there. Your future self will thank you.

Define His Style DNA

Let’s start here. Every stylish groom has a look that defines him. It’s the little things—how he wears a jacket, the shoes he chooses, even the way he layers basics. Is his style classic and clean? Or does he lean more into bold prints and relaxed fits?

Some men love to live in tailored cuts, while others prefer oversized tees and luxury sneakers. So, take a close look at his wardrobe and notice the colors, the textures, and the brands he buys.

Once you get a clear read on his style and personality, choosing a gift becomes a lot simpler. Matching his vibe is the first step toward giving something he’ll actually use and love.

Refresh His Wardrobe with Elevated Essentials

When done right, everyday pieces can feel just as special as formal-wear. A well-made pair of cargo pants is one gift idea that blends utility and luxury. They’ve gone through a major upgrade in recent years. No longer just a practical piece, they now show up in high-end collections with premium fabric, sleek tailoring, and subtle detailing.

They’re great for guys who travel, enjoy casual looks, or want comfort without losing style. Pair them with a clean hoodie or a fitted tee for weekends, dinners, or airport days. It’s a gift that’s simple, stylish, and easy to wear.

Want to add more? Think about a neat overshirt, well-cut joggers, or clean sneakers. These items slide right into his wardrobe and stand out without trying too hard.

Choose Timeless Accessories That Elevate His Look

Accessories are the quiet champions of any outfit. They might be small, but they speak volumes. For example, a premium watch, a leather bracelet, or a sleek cardholder can instantly upgrade a look.

Think beyond the obvious, like a handcrafted belt, a set of elegant cufflinks, or a keychain engraved with your wedding date, adds meaning and style. Accessories like these aren’t flashy. They’re smart.

And better yet, they don’t go out of fashion. He can wear them on the big day, take them on the honeymoon, or just reach for them when he wants to feel a little extra sharp.

Invest in Grooming and Self-Care

Style doesn’t end at clothing. Grooming plays a big role in how he feels—and looks. A thoughtfully curated grooming kit shows you notice the small details. It could include a signature scent, a rich moisturizer, or a luxury shaving set.

If he’s into skincare, level up his routine with a bundle made for men. Think beard oils, exfoliating cleansers, and hydrating serums. Not sure what to pick? Choose travel-size versions so he can take them on the honeymoon. A clean face and a fresh scent go a long way, and self-care gifts are ones he’ll actually use every day.

Gift Him Style-Focused Experiences

Sometimes, the best presents are not things you can wrap; they are the moments he’ll never forget. For example, if your groom loves fashion or just enjoys looking sharp, give him a style-focused experience.

Think about booking a custom tailoring session where he can create his own jacket right down to the last button. In addition, you can surprise him with a private styling appointment at a boutique that fits his vibe.

Want to go even bigger? Plan a weekend getaway to a fashion-forward city like Paris, Milan, Tokyo, or New York. Spend the day exploring designer shops, catching a fashion exhibit, or just soaking in the city’s unique style.

Conclusion

The best gifts are the ones that feel personal. They don’t need to be big or flashy—they just need to show thought. If your groom cares about style, let that lead the way. Whether it’s something to wear, use, or experience, the right gift says, “You get them.”

And really, that’s what a wedding gift should do. It’s not just about the present—it’s about making him feel seen and appreciated.

Talking about birth control is still weirdly taboo, even though millions of people use it every single day. But the conversation around birth control is becoming more open, thanks to celebrities.

More and more celebrities are breaking the silence and getting candid about it. They are using their platforms to share their own experiences—the good, the bad, and the complicated.

Here, we’ll discuss what some of the famous faces have shared about their birth control journeys.

#1 Halsey

Halsey has been very open about her struggles with endometriosis.

It’s a condition where tissue similar to the uterus lining grows outside the uterus, often in the pelvic area. Of course, it’s painful and causes heavy bleeding and potentially infertility.

Birth control has helped Halsey manage her endometriosis pain. She opened up about it in a 2016 tweet.

The American singer-songwriter discussed her journey in a YouTube video with her doctor.

While it’s not a cure, it has played a big role in regulating her cycle and reducing some of the debilitating pain. However, even with birth control, the battle hasn’t been easy. She has undergone multiple surgeries to remove excess endometrial tissue, highlighting how relentless the condition can be.

By sharing her story, she’s doing way more than just talking about it. Halsey’s making so many people with endometriosis feel like they are not alone.

#2 Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber has also been pretty candid about her birth control journey. But it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for her. Her experience with birth control was a wake-up call for many.

In an interview with People magazine, she admitted to using birth control for two years.

Hailey, who was promoting Bare Minerals makeup at the time, mentioned that it caused her skin to break out. Later, she found out that it was spiking up one of her hormone levels. Shape reported that Hailey experienced breakouts after getting an IUD.

An IUD is a tiny, T-shaped device that goes inside the uterus to stop you from getting pregnant.

While IUDs are generally considered safe, the non-hormonal copper IUD, Paragard, has been linked to serious complications. Many women have reported painful side effects, and in some cases, the device has broken inside the body.

According to TorHoerman Law, potential injuries include internal bleeding, pelvic inflammatory disease, organ damage, and perforation of the uterus lining. Thus, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that women are filing lawsuits for the damages suffered.

The Paragard lawsuit, filed against Teva Pharmaceuticals, alleges that the company failed to warn users of the risks linked with its IUD.

#3 Kendall Jenner

Unlike some of the other celebs on this list, Kendall Jenner’s reason for going on birth control wasn’t about contraception but about acne.

The American model and socialite started using birth control to manage zits. There was even an episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” titled “Kendall Goes on Birth Control.” This episode aired back in 2011. The synopsis mentions her dad, Bruce (now Caitlyn), finding out she was taking it.

Kendall later revealed that she got on birth control at 16 to minimize her breakouts. But once she stopped taking it for health reasons in 2018, her acne came back. She mentioned this in an interview while talking about her partnership with Proactiv.

However, individual reactions can vary. Plus, it’s important to find the right dosage and type, which only a healthcare professional can help you with.

#4 Jhené Aiko

Singer Jhené Aiko has distractingly good skin.

Her skincare routine gives her skin an ultra-perfect gleam. Her clear complexion isn’t just from pricey products, however. Turns out, birth control is partially responsible for her glowing skin.

She once spilled the tea in an Instagram comment about her beauty routine. Jhené mentioned that she takes birth control pills. She said it helps with her cystic acne.

Initially, Jhené thought her glowing skin was due to other things. She takes collagen pills and drinks special water. Apple cider vinegar and supplements and Fraxel treatments are also part of her routine.

But she later realized the pill played a big role. Interestingly, Jhené experienced a ruptured ovarian cyst after starting birth control.

Her openness connects birth control to skincare. It highlights that it’s not just about preventing pregnancy. Birth control can also help with conditions like ovarian cysts and acne.

See, celebs are just normal beings. Jhené, Hailey, Halsey, and Kendall have all navigated the world of birth control for different reasons. These range from getting clearer skin to managing chronic pain. Their openness helps make talking about this important topic less taboo. It reminds us that everyone’s journey with birth control is different and valid.

Modern wedding etiquette can often seem a minefield of social landmines to navigate, but the Best Wedding Planner in Carmel know this all too well! Today’s couples strive to find a middle ground between tradition and personal preference, crafting celebrations that are respectful but also distinctly theirs.

The First Impression — Invitation Etiquette

Your wedding invitation gives your guests the first clue of what to expect for your entire celebration. These couples are reinventing conventional ways while preserving the guiding tenets of clarity and consideration. Make sure when sending invitations to be clear on: date, time, location, dress code and RSVP.

Think digital RSVPs and wedding websites that facilitate communication. Still, the importance of a human touch should never be lost. Having handwritten notes or personalized details is a great way to show that your guests are valued.

Guest List Dynamics

Creating a guest list is often one of the most challenging aspects of wedding planning. The Best Wedding Planner in Carmel recommends approaching this task with sensitivity and strategic thinking.

Be consistent with your invitation criteria. If you’re having an adults-only wedding, ensure this is communicated clearly and applied uniformly. Consider potential family dynamics and potential conflicts, but prioritize your comfort and vision.

Financial Conversations and Expectations

Modern wedding etiquette requires transparent communication about financial expectations. Whether you’re receiving family contributions or managing expenses independently, open discussions prevent misunderstandings.

Be clear about who is contributing to wedding costs and how those contributions might influence decision-making. If family members are helping financially, have honest conversations about expectations and boundaries.

Dress Code and Attire Guidance

Wedding attire etiquette has changed a lot. Although traditional conventions remain integral to wedding style, couples have greater leeway to establish their traditions now. Communicate your dress code on invitations, providing specific guidance that helps guests feel comfortable and appropriately dressed.

Consider the venue, time of day, and overall wedding theme when determining dress expectations. From black-tie formal to casual beach celebrations, your dress code sets the event’s tone.

Technology and Social Media Considerations

In our connected world, managing wedding-related technology requires a thoughtful approach. Consider creating a wedding hashtag, but also establish clear boundaries about photography and social media sharing.

Some couples prefer unplugged ceremonies, requesting guests to be fully present without devices. Others embrace social sharing. Whatever your preference, communicate these expectations clearly and compassionately.

Gifting Etiquette

Wedding registries have transformed, offering multiple options for modern couples. Online registries, experiential gifts, and charitable donation options provide guests flexibility while helping couples build their shared lives.

Be transparent about gift expectations. Include registry information on your wedding website, but avoid mentioning gifts directly on formal invitations.

Cultural Sensitivity and Personal Preferences

As the Best Wedding Planner in Carmel, we emphasize the importance of respecting both cultural traditions and personal boundaries. Your wedding should reflect your unique relationship while maintaining respect for family and cultural expectations.

Communicate openly with family members about traditions you wish to honor or modify. Find meaningful ways to incorporate significant cultural elements without feeling constrained by outdated expectations.

Make Your Celebration Counted

Modern wedding etiquette is all about balance, and the best wedding planner in Carmel can help you honor traditions while crafting a celebration that authentically reflects your relationship. Be open, be understanding, and above all, be yourselves.

Your wedding is a celebration of love, intimacy, and personal commitment. By following etiquette with thoughtfulness and care, you create an experience that is meaningful both to the individual and the tradition.

Oval Engagement Rings are in much demand these days as they have oval diamonds in the form of modified brilliant cuts similar to virtually all-around cuts. When picking one of these rings, you will find that the two shapes possess a similar fire and brilliance. You can be sure of the fact that the oval serves as an ideal choice for a customer in love with the look of a round diamond but looking forward to something more unique. You will find the Oval diamonds with the added advantage of an elongated shape, creating the illusion of greater size.

You will also get the slender shape making the finger of the wearer appear longer and slimmer. Why it is worth considering such a piece is that there is the effect often desired. Oval Diamond LW Ratios are also quite impressive, making them stand out. Preferences regarding the kind of ring are highly varied depending on how narrow or fat an oval-cut diamond is.

Choose something appealing to you personally. What you will find as the classic oval cut is a length-to-width ratio of 1.35 – 1.50. The slightly thinner cut looks most appealing when you are looking for a setting where the diamond has a plethora of side stones. You can be sure that you will find the pieces with precise measurements, in addition to length-to-width ratio, knowing the exact shape of the oval diamond being considered.

Bow-tie, Varying from Near Invisible to Severe

Oval cut diamonds usually hold a degree of bow-tie, varying from near invisible to severe. Reviewing the diamond certificate or dimensions doesn’t let you know about the visibility of a bow-tie effect. But you can be sure regarding the same with visual inspection. Evaluating color when you are going ahead with your choice of oval diamonds is subjective. Buyers prefer the slightly warmer colors of a G-H diamond when compared to the cool colorlessness of a D-F diamond.

You will find most of the premium pieces associated with oval diamonds that are at the higher end of the color scale. Some customers go with the choices of D-F color grades, while there are some others who are looking forward to paying a premium. Diamond color grading helps set the price premium for higher grades. Actual differences in terms of color are difficult to perceive. The color chart will also serve as one of the best ways to be referred to as a general guide for evaluating color.

Considering Certain Aspects when Buying an Oval Engagement Rings

When you are looking for something with a beautiful diamond, it is worth considering the importance of the quality of the stone’s cut. Oval-cut diamonds don’t hold cut grades, but there’s a high possibility of getting them graded in terms of polish and symmetry. Go with the choice of stone with excellent polish and excellent symmetry that will let you get lots of sparkle. The Diamond’s depth percentage, in addition to the table percentage reference, is crucial when it comes to a diamond’s beauty and sparkle.

Go with the choice of oval-cut diamonds that will come with a depth percentage ranging between 58 and 62%. In addition to that, you will also get a table percentage between 53 and 63%. You will also get the cut grade to oval-cut diamonds that go based on the specifications, making it easier for you to find the right stone. It’s highly recommended that while searching for your diamond, make sure that you are getting an understanding regarding the desired carat weight.

When you are seeking a 1-carat diamond, ensure that you are going for the piece with a 0.90-0.99-carat diamond instead. With the choice of such a piece, you can be sure that the diamonds will appear the same size as a 1-carat diamond while also saving you hundreds of dollars.

Choosing an Oval Diamond for the Incredible Ceremony

With Oval diamond rings, you will get the much desired increased surface area, and in this regard, you will get the oval diamond optimized with carat weight; be sure that the oval diamonds appear larger than a round diamond of the same carat weight. Overall, it will serve in the form of an impressive and economical choice. Rest assured that you will get an elongated shape that will be flattering to the wearer, moving with the natural lines and curves of a finger. When purchasing one of these rings, stay informed that the Oval diamonds go around 15% of engagement ring sales and turn out to be the second most popular shape after round. If you’re wondering who is going to wear oval diamond engagement rings, keep in mind that recently, oval diamond engagement rings have witnessed an increase in popularity and have earned popularity due to Hailey Baldwin and Blake Lively.

If you’re confused about the ratio of the oval to consider, be informed that you will get the oval diamonds available in ratios from 1.30 to 1.60, and the popular ones lie between 1.30 to 1.45. When shopping for some of the pieces, keep in mind that the Oval cut diamonds have earned much popularity as a popular and elegant choice for engagement rings.

Go with the choice of the modified brilliant cut diamond, combining the brilliance of a round cut with the elongated shape, which leads to the development of a captivating and elongating effect on the finger. A key feature of oval-cut diamonds is versatility, and in this regard, you can be sure that the elongated shape creates an illusion of length, which will let the fingers appear more elongated and elegant. Overall, you can be sure that the oval cut diamonds will prove a flattering choice for a range of hand shapes and finger sizes.

Final words

Get the oval cut diamonds that will provide a blend of versatility, timeless elegance, and impressive sparkle. So be ready to get the elongated shape and exceptional brilliance, ensuring that it will serve as a sought-after choice for sophisticated and eye-catching diamonds.

Late November through early February each year rings in proposal season! Thanksgiving and the holidays are often the reason, as having the whole family together provides an easy opportunity to pop the question so those nearest and dearest can also celebrate. And, of course, the lovey-dovey feelings on the day dedicated to romance, Valentine’s Day, inspire many to get down on one knee as well.

In fact, according to The Knot, the five most popular engagement days fall within this proposal season: Christmas Day is the most popular day to propose, followed by December 24. New Year’s Day, January 1, is also included in the list, as is December 22 and February 14 (Valentine’s Day). Additional anecdotes from Zola confirm that December reigned as the most popular month to get engaged due to “feelings of thankfulness and love in the winter months.”

With the influx of engagements, there will soon be lots of 2025 and 2026 weddings! To prep for all these upcoming nuptials, we have expert insights from Kobi Cummings, co-owner, art director and certified wedding planner at The Valley Venues, to shed some light on upcoming trends.

You’ll see a big resurgence of vintage! Cummings states, “What we were talking about now is not just documentary photography but how this idea is blending into videography. I find it really interesting because it’s not just documentary style, which is often like 30-millimeter film. We’re also continuing to see couples leaving disposable cameras on reception tables so guests can capture more moments from the wedding. Plus, more people are renting antique furniture and decor pieces!”

For floral arrangements, the 80s are back! Per Cummings, you’ll see cascading bouquets come back into trend, but in a more elegant way. “Also, to save money and be eco-friendly, faux florals are coming back as well. Since the quality of faux florals has gotten so much better, couples who want to save more can opt for those instead of fresh flowers with equally as beautiful outcomes. In terms of sustainability, not throwing away $3,000 worth of flowers at the end of the day is way better, way better,” shares Cummings. We love that you can also repurpose them.

2025 Trends in Wedding Venues or Locations

More venues are now offering wedding weekends! The idea behind it is that instead of spending hours with your loved ones, you could spend a bit more to get a full two days to celebrate. Cummings notes, “The value is that you have a wedding weekend getaway versus a very long day where you arrive at 6 a.m. and then you’re cleaning until midnight or 1 a.m. I have seen clients who don’t do the wedding weekends and see their parents not making it to the after-party because they start cleaning.”

She notes that couples often extend the wedding weekend invite to the bridal party, too, “Some venues can accommodate 30-40 people and can really give the feeling of a private estate wedding, renting a whole property to feel like a getaway weekend for all.”

2025 Trends in Wedding Attire
The vintage trend continues here, too. Cummings is seeing the following:

Grooms: More pocket florals instead of a boutonniere and statement accessories, such as custom-made cufflinks, engraved watches, and heirloom pieces.

Brides: A lot of bows, neck scarves and dainty little lacy gloves.

Couples: Custom or bold shoes for the ceremony or reactions are a new twist on the popular “second look” trend. Examples include custom white Converse with lace details, embroidered wedding date or bright and blinged-out heels.

Bridal Party: Mismatched will continue to be a trend with a mixture of different textures and colors for dresses and mixing various accessories like bow ties and ties.

Entertainment or Interactive Guest Experience Trends in 2025:
Live paintings have been a huge trend these past couple of years and are not going anywhere! Cummings states, “Something new that we’re seeing includes live painting guest portraits. Instead of painting one oil painting of the couple, each guest has their own customized portrait for a wedding favor! Other new interactive elements I’ve seen are real tattoo artists at the reception or even a custom temporary tattoo bar.”

Where live music has always been a mainstay, Cummings is now seeing more three-piece musician bands, whether it’s a string quartet or a jazz trio.

Technology Tools for 2025:

Technology is making weddings more interactive than ever! With the rise in photo-sharing apps, guests can upload their photos into the Cloud, and everyone can view each other’s pictures.

“We’ve also seen more couples hire day-of content creators to specifically make social media content to capture memories through the guest’s eyes,” says Cummings.

Additionally, for those couples who prefer to do the planning themselves without hiring a wedding planner, there’s a trend toward online services that make the process easier! One example is Our Day, which has a unique platform that matches vendors with couples through a request for proposal (RFP) process inputting their budget, theme and special requests.

With these 2025 wedding trends noted, you’re ready for the upcoming proposal season. Happy planning!

For couples contemplating a holiday wedding, blending a special occasion with seasonal festivities has undeniable appeal. Holiday weddings can offer a unique experience for guests, combining celebration with cherished holiday traditions. However, holiday nuptials also present distinct challenges, from guest availability to budget constraints.

We asked Bryn Khoury, the founder of Our Day—an event planning platform with a unique vendor search capability—to share her expert advice on the subject. Since her company specializes in helping couples navigate all kinds of wedding planning considerations, from the ordinary to the exceptional, like holiday weddings, we wanted to get her take on the pros and cons of holiday weddings, along with her tips for making these celebrations unforgettable.

Pros of Holiday Weddings

1. Built-In Atmosphere

The holiday season brings its own festive vibe, which can certainly elevate the atmosphere of a wedding. “Holidays have a natural spirit of celebration,” says Bryn. “Whether it’s the warmth of Thanksgiving or the sparkle of New Year’s Eve, holidays create an ambiance that can make your wedding feel even more special.” With venues often decorated to match the season, couples may find they can save on decorations while benefiting from the themed holiday decor. “It’s not only a cost-saver, but also a way to add charm to the wedding space,” Bryn adds. The Knot also highlights this as a perk, as venues often showcase beautiful holiday decorations at no extra cost.

2. Easier for Guests to Take Time Off

Holiday periods often mean guests already have time off from work, making it more convenient for friends and family to attend, especially if travel is involved. “Holiday weddings are great if you have guests coming in from different places,” Bryn points out. “A holiday weekend means guests won’t need to juggle work commitments while celebrating, making it easier for them to enjoy the festivities.” This is why many destination weddings are planned around long holiday weekends, when guests can maximize their travel time.

3. Memorable Celebration

Combining a holiday with a wedding day creates a dual celebration that’s bound to be memorable. “Years from now, your friends and family will still associate your wedding with a holiday celebration,” Bryn notes. “It’s a beautiful way to make your anniversary even more meaningful and ensure your day stands out in everyone’s memories.”

Cons of Holiday Weddings

1. Higher Costs and Competition

The flip side of a holiday wedding can be the premium pricing and competition for venues. Bryn explains, “Around major holidays, demand for venues and vendors spikes. That can drive up costs or make it harder to secure the vendors you really want.” Couples planning on these peak dates should anticipate higher costs and fewer flexible options, as competition tends to increase around popular holiday seasons.

2. Guest Availability Conflicts

While some guests may find it easier to attend a holiday wedding, others may already have family obligations, travel plans, or personal traditions that could conflict with the wedding. Bryn recommends that couples check in with their most critical guests ahead of time to see if their attendance aligns with their holiday plans. Holiday weddings often have lower attendance, so keep that in mind when choosing a date. Ultimately, it’s up to the couple to decide if a particular date or higher attendance is more important to them.

3. Seasonal Price Surges and Travel Complications

The cost of travel tends to rise around major holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, making it potentially challenging for out-of-town guests. “This is a significant consideration for couples with many guests traveling from afar,” Bryn confirms. “Holiday airfare and accommodations can be much pricier.” Additionally, inclement weather during winter holidays can lead to logistical issues like flight delays, impacting guests’ schedules and causing wedding day stress. Brides magazine suggests planning with extra time buffers to help avoid travel complications for holiday weddings.

4. Shared Focus with Holiday Festivities

For some couples, a holiday wedding may feel like it competes with other celebrations or traditions. Your guests might be in a holiday mindset, which may lead to a more casual atmosphere than intended. So Bryn suggests that couples think about whether they want their wedding to feel like a standalone event or if they’re happy with it being part of a broader holiday celebration. For couples who want the day entirely centered on their marriage, a non-holiday date would be preferable.

Making the Most of a Holiday Wedding: Key Takeaways

With both festive advantages and logistical hurdles, holiday weddings can be a wonderful choice if planned thoughtfully. Bryn and the Our Day team encourage couples to weigh these pros and cons, considering what will make their wedding feel special and stress-free. By understanding the challenges and opportunities that come with holiday dates, couples can create a wedding that is not only magical, but also meaningful.

If you’re planning to get married, you may be concerned about the cost of the ceremony and reception and whether you can afford the wedding you’ve wished for. While it’s true that planning a wedding brings many expenses to account for, there are different ways that you can save money and still have the ceremony of your dreams. From the wedding ring sets to the flowers, there are many areas in which you can cut costs to have a more budget-friendly wedding.

1. Don’t Get Married in the High Season

Many people choose to get married during the wedding high season, which usually runs from May through October. These months are popular because the weather is often nicer, but wedding venues tend to get booked faster and can be more expensive to reserve during the high season. If you want to save money on reserving a venue and have a better chance of booking your ideal location, consider getting married outside these months.

2. Cut Costs on Flowers

One of the smartest ways to save money on wedding flowers is by ordering them in bulk and arranging them yourself instead of buying ones that are already made into bouquets. Another way to save is by ordering blossoms that will be in season for your wedding, as flowers that aren’t in season tend to cost more. If you’re willing to forgo having natural flowers at your ceremony, beautiful silk faux flowers may be less expensive. You can also use the flowers for your wedding to decorate the reception hall if there’s enough time between events.

3. Choose Affordable Wedding Rings

Exchanging rings is one of the highlights of a wedding, and you can still give each other special rings without going beyond your budget. In addition to affordable engagement rings, you can find many beautiful wedding bands for women that won’t set you back a lot of money. You can also find affordable men’s wedding bands at respected online retailers. If you want to save money on a wedding ring with a stone, consider choosing a smaller stone. You can also reduce your cost by choosing a silver band instead of one that’s made of gold or platinum.

4. Find Cheaper Food Alternatives

Guests usually look forward to eating good food at the reception, and you won’t have to break the bank to supply dishes that your attendees will love. A buffet-style event will likely be cheaper than hiring wait staff to serve meals to your guests. Self-catering can be a budget-friendly alternative to hiring a professional caterer if you plan a smaller wedding. You can also search for deals from local restaurants that supply food for wedding receptions. The wedding cake can also be a major expense, and you might save a considerable amount of money by having cupcakes, donuts, or another type of dessert instead.

5. Use the Same Venue for the Wedding and Reception

You don’t have to rent separate venues for your wedding and reception, and many banquet halls, country clubs, and other suitable facilities can be used for both events. Some venues might even offer you a discount if you want to reserve the same location for your wedding and reception. Along with the savings you’ll enjoy on renting only one venue, you won’t have to worry about the expenses of traveling between two locations.

6. Consider Minimizing the Guest List

If you plan to invite a lot of guests to the wedding, expect to pay more for a larger venue as well as for food at the reception. As difficult as it might seem, you might find it easier to stay within your budget by reducing the number of people you invite to the wedding. You don’t have to invite everyone you know, and you can create a more intimate ceremony while saving money by inviting only your closest friends and family members to attend.

7. Send Digital Invitations

Invitations printed on paper could be a costly expense, and sending digital invitations instead is an excellent way to save money. You’ll eliminate the costs of printing, stationery, and mailing fees by going digital and reducing your paper usage, which can help the environment. You can also send save-the-date reminders by email instead of mailing printed cards. If you want to send paper invitations, you can print the cards at home instead of using a professional printing service.

8. Shop for Preowned Wedding Attire

If you are on a strict budget and don’t mind wearing secondhand clothing on your big day, you might find great bargains by shopping for wedding attire that was previously worn. Used bridal gowns, tuxedoes for grooms, and clothing for bridesmaids and groomsmen are often available at significantly lower prices. You may also find discount rates on used formal footwear that looks almost as good as new.

9. Find Cheaper Entertainment

Entertainment at your wedding reception can make your occasion even more memorable. If you want to keep your entertainment expenses to a minimum, consider hiring a DJ instead of a live band so that you’ll only have to pay one entertainer for their time. Student musicians may also be willing to perform at your wedding at a lower price than a professional band.

A Special Day for Less Money

You want your wedding day to be as special as possible, and you don’t want the expenses of your occasion to weigh on your mind. You can alleviate a lot of your stress and have more energy to focus on your big day if you put forth the effort to lower your wedding costs in advance.
