These 7 Wedding Ideas are Perfect for the Introvert Bride

Are you an introvert, planning for your big day? Here are some ideas that will help you keep the wedding planning, and the actual day of your wedding, pleasant instead of a nightmare. It’s your day, and you should enjoy it! Instead of dreading the small talk, speeches, or being the center of attention, use these ideas so that you can look forward to saying ‘yes’ to your soul mate!

Have a small bridal party — two to four maids of honor only.
Plan for some alone time on the day of your wedding — even if it’s just an hour or two, it will help!
Have an intimate ceremony and reception, with close friends and family only (or, elope!)
Instead of a reception with loud music and dancing, plan something on the quieter side.
Looking for a wedding venue? How about a museum or a library? These may appeal to your quiet side.
Delegate communication tasks to extrovert helpers; perhaps your mom can handle sending the invitations, or your talkative cousin can be in charge of greeting out of town relatives.
Just say “no” to speeches. Being nervous about giving a speech might ruin your experience of the day!

Celebrating 3 Years of Sweet Violet Bride

Happy birthday Sweet Violet Bride! It has been 3 busy years since I sat down one day to write the first post. It has been a journey full of beauty and love and has flown by quicker than I could have imagined. It has also not been without its trials and I’ll admit there have been times when it was all so overwhelming that I thought of giving up (I think this crosses the minds of all entrepreneurs at some point). I’m glad I persevered because I look back at the nearly 800 posts that have been published here (and the three magazine issues so far) and it makes my heart swell with joy. You see this blog is about dreaming, celebrating love, and the natural beauty this Earth gives us. In that respect I consider it to be a bright success and I want to thank you for being there to read those posts, for reading the magazine, and for spreading the word about this little space on the internet. And photographers, stylists, floral designers, makers, creative beings, I bow my head to you. I love sharing the beauty you create!

Cake by Cake Ink. Isn’t it awesome? If I were to have any cake appear on my desk today, this would be it. Spring!

I can’t say exactly what the future holds for Sweet Violet Bride (I can say we have a stunning issue 4 in the works), but no matter what I know I’ll keep doing what I love and loving what I do. Life is too short for anything else. After recently losing my grandmother this mantra is even more meaningful to me. I want to encourage anyone reading this to take that leap you might have been dreaming about. Do what you love, love what you do. Do that and you will be the best version of yourself. Much love, violets! Happy blogiversary! Oh, and happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Celebrating 2 Years!

I’ve been working so hard on getting posts out, and working on the magazine that I can’t believe I forgot that two weeks ago was the 2 year anniversary of Sweet Violet Bride! It deserves a day of celebration and reflection…and perhaps some cake. It has been an amazing 2 years of celebrating love, natural beauty, and the creative life. I’ve also never worked harder in my life, but I am proud to say that I do what I love! From the sound of the feedback I’ve received so far, many people are enjoying SVB and that couldn’t make me happier. Thank you to everyone who has contributed in these first two years! I’m looking forward to many more.

Happy New Year, Violets! I found this vintage Art Nouveau post card that just happens to feature violets and a happy new year message – couldn’t resist sharing. We’ve been able to feature so many talented artists, beautiful real weddings, stunning styled shoots, and such creativity on the blog in 2013. I feel truly blessed to be working at something I love and to be sharing inspiration for wedding celebrations with so many people. In 2013 we had readers from 186 countries in all. How cool is that!? As I take a look at this past year I see dreams turning into goals, and with hard work and persevering through many challenges, turning those dreams into reality. The first issue of our print magazine has just been printed. When I first held it in my hands less than a week ago, I have to admit, it still didn’t feel real. It took a few days. Now that it has sunk in, I am filled with excitement for all the issues to come, and am gearing up for a productive year ahead. Thank you all for making 2013 the great year that it was!
