This is our last wedding feature of 2015, but it also happens to be one of my favorites! You can just tell Brandy and Peter have an amazing love story – which they do. They’ve been together since high school and have been on a whirlwind of adventures together. They currently live in NYC while Brandy gets her MFA but the Sloss Furnaces in their hometown of Birmingham, AL was a special place for them and the perfect backdrop for their wedding day. j.woodbery photography shot a combination of film and digital for this artistic couple (Brandy is a designer and painter and Peter is a musician). I’m in love with their fabulous style and the details they chose – from the woodland bouquets and centerpieces to Brandy’s vintage inspired Hayley Paige gown and Peter’s rustic cotton boutonniere. Boho Woodsy Styled Shoot {Beana Bern Photography}

Happy Friday, Violets! These photos embody an ethereal feel with rich, old world accents that complement the moods and magic of the woods. This styled shoot was put together by a talented group of Vermont wedding designers/vendors, including photographer Beana Bern, who was behind the lens at The Greensboro Barn. The barn’s weathered old wooden beams and boards, natural light, and lush green grounds provided the perfect backdrop for a blend of bohemian and medieval inspired elements.

Barefoot sandals with freshwater pearls, vintage crystals, and lace flowers adorned the bride’s feet, while a sexy antique lace veil adorned her head. Vintage silver, medieval-style tarts, and lush peonies graced a table tucked under an ancient apple tree. The bouquet of blush hellebores, lily of the valley, ranunculus, viburnum, and dogwood was tied with vintage lace, silk ribbon, and metal beads. The silk chiffon wedding dress featured a lace up back, French knots, vintage beads, and hand embroidery. Engraved wedding rings and an elegant cake completed the romantic, otherworldly effect.

Happy Friday, Violets! I have a stunning styled shoot to share with you today and I’ve been so excited about it all week! Bella Notte Photography and a talented team from Minnesota blended an organic, modern feel with a romantic, glamorous flare. The result – woodsy glamour! They incorporated a delicate floral crown, breathtaking bridal bouquet and spectacularly luscious floral arch to bring out the coppers, whites, greens and peaches in the overall color palette. A gorgeous naked cake, modernly delicate paper good, simple blush dress, and a rustic wood table completed the look at this dreamy woodsy location at Silverwood Park.

Whimsical Moss Wedding Bouquet Ideas

Fueling our moss obsession today! Though you often see moss used in tablescapes and other décor, it can be harder to visualize how to incorporate it into a bouquet. One of my personal favorites, which is also super easy to do yourself, is to wrap sheet moss around the handle of your bouquet (tie it with twine, wire, or even silk ribbon for a unique contrast). You can also incorporate moss-covered foam spheres, wrap longer strands of tree moss (actually a lichen also known as old man’s beard) into the bouquet, or even forgo a bouquet altogether and carry a moss-covered clutch! Have fun with it and let your inner woodland spirit reign!

Green DIY Outdoor Virginia Wedding {Gayle Driver Photography}

Rachael and Jeremy, who were high school sweethearts, had their lovely outdoor wedding under the shade of majestic oak trees on the lawn of their church in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Both fans of the outdoors, they decided on a rustic theme for their wedding with details of pinecones, moss, tree stumps, green, white and yellow flowers, a stone fireplace, and potted plants. Their color palette was a balance of earthy greens – emerald, dill, balsam, and lemongrass. We love how Rachael’s bridesmaids all wore different dresses in complimentary shades of the hue! During the ceremony Rachael and Jeremy each planted Jasmine in one flower pot to symbolize their love for each other. Rachael’s mom, Joy, who has a passion for flowers, was the perfect person to provide and arrange all of the gorgeous flowers and centerpieces for the day. Rustic Wedding Bouquet Inspiration: Dried Flowers

The practice of drying flowers for ornamental purposes goes back as far as Ancient Egypt. For a naturally rustic look why not carry a dried flower bouquet on your wedding day? There are many great things about dried flower bouquets – you can make or purchase them ahead of time, they’ll be less expensive, you can keep them long after the wedding as a keepsake, and you don’t have to worry about them wilting on your big day. If you absolutely must have fresh flowers, I understand, but if you’re open to alternatives these beauties I’ve collected below might inspire you. What flowers make for the best dried bouquets? Typically wildflowers are a good bet. Lavender, strawflowers, wheat, caspia, larkspur, daisies etc. Garden roses and hydrangea can also work. Mixing in other natural elements such as dried seed pods or feathers can create even more interesting textures and compositions.

Wedding Flower Inspiration: Pussy Willows

One of my favorite rites of spring in childhood was stomping around swamps and forests to find pussy willows with my mom and grandma. A member of the Salix family (willows and sallows), the pussy willow is named for its cat-like furry catkins that appear on the branches at the first sign of spring. In soft shades of white and grey, they perfectly complement a variety of wedding color palettes, and the delicate branches and fuzzy buds can lend a surreal, magical atmosphere to your occasion. Pussy willows are easy to grow and hardy when cut, making them ideal for bouquets, centerpieces, and other décor. Ready to put on your boots and search the nearest marshy area? Fairytale Autumn Wedding in the Berkshires {Dani Fine Photography}

Inspired by the crisp hues of autumn in the Berkshires and the old world charm of a fairytale, this styled shoot has all the details of a perfect fall wedding in the woods. These images, taken at Santarella (Tyringham’s Gingerbread House) succeed in capturing the wonderment and sweetness of an old time fable. The bride’s natural beauty takes center stage and is accentuated beautifully by the stunning hair pieces made of delicate gold blossoms by Heart of Gold Designs. The table setting (wouldn’t you just love to sit at this table!?) was laid with ruff-spun linen trimmed in lace with mismatched vintage china and scrumptious autumn inspired sweets. The floral was the perfect finishing touch to this autumn fairytale wedding with elements ranging from pheasant feathers and fungi to lotus pods and vibrant clusters of berries. Wedding Flower Inspiration: Black-Eyed Susan

Named for the stunning dark “eye” in the center of each bloom, black-eyed Susans, or Rudbeckia hirta are a gorgeous addition to weddings from June through October. Native American peoples used these plants for medicinal purposes, and the Victorians thought they symbolized “justice.” Blooming as happily in a forest as in a garden, these often-domesticated wildflowers possess lovely deep yellow petals that attract butterflies and other nectar-thirsty creatures. One variety, the Gloriosa Daisy, has a wonderful fringe of deep rust-red around the center, making it perfect for fall bouquets. Perhaps you’ll be able to gather your wedding flowers along country roads!

Dusty Miller Wedding Bouquet Inspiration

Base foliage probably isn’t the first thing you think of when envisioning your wedding bouquet, but it is an important element that creates a market fresh feel and can also provide support for other stems in your arrangement. Today we take a look at one standout base foliage in particular, Dusty Miller. This plant is a favorite because it looks good with almost anything. The silvery color contrasts beautifully with dark, vibrant blossoms and also compliments the palest of blooms as well. The leaves of this perennial plant are covered with fine hairs giving them a soft, velvety appearance and also their silvery white color. Though it is not edible, it does have a lovely herbal appearance. Some varieties, as you’ll see below are lacier than others, which create a more delicate look.
