Hello, lovelies! We’ve got something special for you to enjoy today. We all know that the holidays are never an excuse to gush over fall color themed designs and bohemian inspired wedding schemes. Which is why today, we’ll be looking at the sweetest photos from Linda Murri Photography’s Boho Styled Shoot at Stonebrook Manor. From what I’ve seen so far, the gorgeous fall colors of pinks, oranges, reds, and greens with accents of gold were phenomenal! So, let’s just scroll down below and see what else they’ve got in store for us, shall we?

We’re All About the Details!

Linda has been hoping to do a bohemian themed styled shoot for several years and this one came together just like what she dreamed of, with a gorgeous couple that is actually engaged and getting married in February. The dress is a Madison James dress. A lace-covered dress that has a long beautiful train. The theme inspired the fall color theme of pinks, oranges, reds, greens, and gold.

The Florals

Lehrer’s Flowers provided colorful florals of oranges, yellows, and pinks: a flower crown (perfect with the theme and colors), a boutonniere, a gorgeous bridal bouquet, and centerpiece.

Reception Essentials

Hadley Designs designed the invitation suite, matching fans, name cards, and framed table number. Merry Expressions provided an alternate table number of an actual gold table number on a stick to stand above the place setting.

The Bundt Cakes

The Bundt Shoppe had a beautiful display of a variety of bundt cakes: White chocolate raspberry, orange creamsicle, strawberry, and chocolate on gold display dishes with “jewels” of glass hanging below. Very elegant touch and delicious, too! Pam wanted the cakes to reflect the colorful theme of the shoot. They look perfect displayed on either the gorgeous table linens of Event Rents or in the wishing well.

Little Details!

One of our favorite parts of the shoot was all of the smaller details the planner, Corinna, of Amber Creek Weddings and Events provided. Small succulents, signs, and macrame pieces. She even hand-crocheted some of them herself!

The Stonebrook Manor

Stonebrook Manor also has a “Lovegate” where the bridal couple can hang a lock with their initials. It is one of the most beautiful venues close to Denver with stunning gardens full of flowers, a marble gazebo, and waterfalls. A wedding pavilion and pergola are also perfect places for the ceremony. The venue also can cater any event with their own personal chefs. The venue has two large ballrooms with chandeliers.

Take this Advice

If you are designing a bohemian theme for your wedding, add a variety of beautiful flowers and incorporate lots of lace and little accents like succulents into your wedding design. ~Linda Murri/Photographer

Happy Friday, Violets! I have a beautiful bridal look to share with you today. These photos come to us from New Zealand! Zoe wears the Begonia II gown by Kelsey Genna. We absolutely love the flower-inspired designs by this talented young designer and especially love how this dress looks paired with a colorful purple and red, organically arranged bouquet with pretty ribbons. The ballerina-inspired bun with flowers tucked all around it is a wonderful way to wear flowers in your hair while keeping it up out of your way. There are few scents so intoxicating as that of fresh herbs. I love to add sage, mint, lavender, and other varieties to my bouquets. Besides adding fragrance to your wedding day, herbs can provide unique colors and textures – from soft greens to shiny purples, with varied leaves and delicate flowers. Look for unexpected varieties like chocolate mint or lime basil, and create a signature blend of smells and flavors. Feeling ambitious? Your local plant nursery may be able to pot-up live herbs that can serve as décor on the big day, and then be moved into your garden or kitchen window to continue growing.

Inspirational Hanging Floral Installations

Hanging floral installations are always a unique element of décor for any event and literally add another level of atmosphere in any room or space. We love organic and rustic looking designs that look as if they might have grown there themselves in some magical tale, but there are many ways to accomplish a hanging design. An easy DIY is to string bottles from a tree near your outdoor ceremony or reception site and place a single bloom in each for a whimsical look. You can do the same indoors by hanging them from a makeshift metal chandelier or rod hung lengthwise above a table. However you choose to display your blooms from above it definitely surpasses the ordinary and makes a celebratory statement.

Wedding Inspiration Board #27: Dandelion

I don’t think I’ll ever tire of picking dandelions and blowing the faerie-like seeds into the wind. They have one of the longest flowering seasons of any plant which I think is pretty cool if you’re going to use it as inspiration for your rustic / boho wedding. They’re hardy, useful (the root, leaves, and flower can be used), and though they’re a common weed, they do have a wild beauty to them. Making a wish when their seeds are on the wind is considered good luck and there are all sorts of ways they might inspire your wedding style. Don’t forget the Dandelion wine!

Book Review: The Exquisite Book of Paper Flowers

I’ve been wanting to try my hand at making paper flowers for several years now and for some reason just never came around to doing it, but when I saw Livia Cetti’s new book I knew that would soon change. The publishers were kind to send me a copy for review and inside it is a treasure trove of in-depth tutorials that could easily keep me away from my computer for several weeks (isn’t that a dreamy thought?). The book contains Cetti’s secret techniques for making 25+ of her most popular blooms including dahlia, rose, peony, jasmine, sweet pea, tiger lily, poppy, lotus, and many more. After learning the basic techniques you can put your new skills together to make a number of gorgeous projects that Cetti gives ideas for toward the back of the book. Wedding bouquets, wreaths, garlands, boutonnieres, gift toppers, cake decorations, and centerpieces or home décor are just a few.

Making paper flowers for your wedding is not only a beautiful idea it is a seriously budget saving one. Plus, they won’t wilt at the end of the day. And if you’re looking for the book on how to make event-worthy paper flowers then this is it. Cetti is known for creating high-style, gorgeous paper flowers and even decorated the White House with garlands of tissue paper hibiscus for a South Korean state dinner.

Clear step-by-step instructions and color photos accompany each project, all surprisingly easy to make (though they may take a little time) with readily available tissue or crepe paper, scissors, glue, floral tape, wire, and basic household bleach (for dip dying).

The flowers pictured throughout the book are so pretty that I was admittedly a little worried my first attempt would pale in comparison, but as I set out to make a Garden Rose I was happily surprised at how it took form. Before reading that most of the flowers in this book are made from tissue paper, I went out and bought a bunch of crepe paper, but I think my rose still came out great! Now I’m going to have to try and make one with tissue paper too! In all it took me about 3.5 hours to complete this single rose (including the leaves). The only thing this book doesn’t have that I wish it did was a difficulty rating with each tutorial, but I suppose that may be subjective anyway.

I chose a blush pink crepe paper for my garden rose (finished above) and once I studied the basics section in the front of the book (where you’ll learn things like how to create a dart) I fell into the process quite smoothly. I’m sure it would probably go a little quicker next time having done it once before. Below are some snapshots from my experience in making the rose.

Luckily I made a few extra petals because I accidentally ripped two of them right in half when trying to curl their edges. You have to remember to be light with your fingers when working with delicate paper!

The rose was actually looking quite good when it was halfway done and you could even make a few like this for smaller ones to accompany the larger one.

I can’t wait to make more paper flowers with the tutorials in this book and highly recommend it to all DIY brides! And also if you’re looking for a way to create a beautiful piece to brighten up your home!

Wedding Flower Inspiration: Stephanotis

Derived from the Greek words meaning “crown” or “fit for a crown,” it’s appropriate that brides like Princess Diana have often included Stephanotis in their bouquets. Not a royal? Don’t worry, this flower is readily available and will bloom happily from first mimosa to last dance. Often known as “Madagascar Jasmine,” Stephanotis is wonderfully fragrant and grows as vines with waxy white flowers. With their hollow centers, these blooms are often bedazzled with pearls and gemstones or strung on ribbon. If you’re creating your own floral arrangements, be aware that these flowers have very short stems, so make sure you have plenty of wire in your toolkit. Whether atop a cake or tucked in your hair, in boutonnieres or centerpieces, Stephanotis provides a lovely look (and scent) fit for a queen.

Plum Nectar Styled Shoot {Annabella Charles Photography}

Today’s inspirational images are from one of my favorite photographers in the world, Annabella Charles Photography. Delectable shades of plum, raspberry, peach, cream, and honey make for a charming celebration. The floral design, by Haute Horticulture, is absolutely perfect for autumn, though I’d love these arrangements any season of the year! Full of wild texture (i.e. dark viburnum berries and jasmine vine) and stunning focal blooms (i.e. white dahlias) these arrangements beckon to be gazed at for more than just a moment, the eye finding something new to follow just when you thought you’d seen it all. And is this not one of the prettiest naked cakes you’ve ever seen? Thanks for sharing with us, Annabella!

Rustic Wedding Table Garland Ideas

Table garlands are definitely one of the most charming centerpiece ideas I’ve come across – and they’re perfect in that they don’t obstruct the view across the table like some centerpieces can. These low-lying botanical beauties look especially grand down the center of an extra-long rectangular table (obviously they aren’t great for round tables). Whether you opt for an entirely green garland made of vines and leaves (or airy ferns), one with buds and blooms, or one with other pretties (think berries, pinecones, seashells) they certainly make a statement. They need not always be used in the center of a table either – you can use them to drape the front of a table, pin up behind a table that is against a wall, or as seen in the seventh photo below, angle the ends so that you can still seat someone at the head of the table. Provence Meets Pasadena Styled Photo Shoot {Mieke Snepvangers Photography}

Inspired by French accents and hues of pink and plum, this elegant photo shoot brings us modern Pasadena meets Provence style. I find the elegant floral by Butterfly Floral to be absolutely irresistible, especially the first bouquet shown with garden roses in watercolor shades of pastel pink and purple, accented by golden orchids. What bride wouldn’t love to carry that! Little details, such as the glass ring box filled with dried lavender and the purple plate chargers, make for such a romantic celebration.
