summer – Sweet Violet Bride

A Romantic and Eclectic Bohemian Wedding

Scarlet — Sat, 10 Jun 2017 14:40:25 +0000

Today’s feat will bring us a a lot of dream catchers, floral garlands and splashes of sumptuous color. Adam and Lauren’s eclectic bohemian wedding was complete with 70’s style hippie inspirations. The 1960s Volkswagen Photobus was a gorgeous and funky touch, and the kooky DJ spinning only vinyl classics lent a timeless energy to the festivities. The bride’s handmade dream catchers brought effervescence and softness, and floral garlands and arrangements brought splashes of sumptuous color. The reception was interrupted by a freak thunderstorm, so there was a touch of wildness and excitement to the evening! All was resolved with a gorgeous rainbow and sunset, and cartwheels and dancing under the stars!

A Green and Organic Affair

Scarlet — Mon, 05 Jun 2017 13:35:13 +0000

If you are looking for something that would match this year’s Pantone color, greenery, then you have to check out this stylized shoot. From the crisp green succulents to the warming comfort of the dreamily lit barn, this styled shoot is sure to inspire any bride looking to recreate southern romance. The impressive foliage centerpieces are one you shouldn’t miss! It can’t get more organic than that. This wedding inspiration will leave you in awe, just check out the photos PPD Studios Photography took!

The Bride and Groom Ensembles

The bride dressed in Signature Bridal Salon court train lace dress exhibits a classic southern belle. The cascading bouquet made up of roses and foliage added a glam and rustic touch to her whole look. The groom’s blue suit sure is classic and sophisticated — a little change from the traditional black suit. And instead of a pocket square, the groom got a pad of tiny succulents to stay with the succulents and organic theme.

The Ceremony Venue

The big window creates for a dramatic lighting that gives a mysterious silhouette as the bride enters. Such a breathtaking scene! The candle chandelier and succulents lining the aisle complemented well the simpleness of the barn.

Each table was designed to subtle and dainty to bear the southern vibes.

The Buffet Table

The elaborate centerpieces and table runners are definitely out of the norm! I love the green lush spread on the buffet tables along with the fresh fruits and veggies. Succulents were also significant in the theme they were going for. Looking at these photos made me hungry! What a feast!

Sweet Summer Blossoms Styled Wedding Shoot

Naomi — Fri, 11 Mar 2016 14:30:45 +0000

This bright and fresh styled shoot from Tennessee will light up your day! It is filled with flourishing blooms in shades of blush, fuchsia, orange, and lavender, a sweet coffee bar, watercolor details, cute quotes, and a menu inspired by the fairy-tale tastes of summer. I love the calligraphy on stone, lacy dress so evocative of the Southern bride, botanical favors, soft pastel palette and mismatched vintage china. Handcrafted latte art in a vintage china cup is such a romantic treat for a wedding! Joel and Amber Wedding Photography is behind the lens. Enjoy!

From the Photographer:

Our chef put together a mouth-watering menu, inspired by summer flavors and pastel colors. Our cake artist created a light and airy cake, along with scrumptious macaroons and meringues inspired by summer watercolors. The coffee bar was designed to create a unique twist on the reception! We wanted to inspire brides to think outside the box when considering different concepts for their reception. Hand-lettered, watercolor signs announced the flavor options available.

Quotes are such an inspiring way to create an emotional touch to a wedding. We wanted to incorporate some sweet and fun quotes to help capture the love surrounding a wedding. One quote was attached to our unique wedding favors – a live begonia flower for guests to take home and plant, with words from Audrey Hepburn: “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” Love is a delicate flower that is alive and beautiful – we wanted these to be a reminder of that.

We finished off our session with sweet sunset portraits of our bride and groom. Their love for each other was just amazing to witness. At the end of the shoot, that’s what it’s all about. This beautiful thing called love.

Wedding Color Palette: Melon

Naomi — Wed, 29 Apr 2015 14:01:13 +0000

As I was slicing up a cantaloupe the other day I was inspired yet again by nature’s color palette – such a fresh orange-peach hue, accented perfectly by a spring green rim. Not only is this color a beautiful choice for spring and summer weddings, but you can also incorporate the fruit into your menu with pretty cocktails and treats such as cantaloupe sorbet! It pairs well with blush and gold colors as well as mint , silver, rose gold etc. And though this palette is inspired by cantaloupe, a honeydew or watermelon theme would be just as lovely!

Bright Botanical Greenhouse Inspiration {Newbury Photographs}

Naomi — Thu, 02 Apr 2015 14:10:09 +0000

Hello April! We’re ready for spring blooms and pops of color! This bright inspiration shoot brings us just that. A unique black dress adorned with fuchsia, poppy, and blush pink flowers makes a bold statement and the gorgeous Stevens-Coolidge Place with its greenhouse, orchard and gardens was the perfect venue to show it off. The lively gown is balanced elegantly with delicate stationery, in neutral creams and whites, vintage pewter candlesticks and a simple white cake adorned with fresh figs and raspberries. Newbury Photographs (who envisioned this shoot during a nor’easter last winter) has certainly sparked our imagination with these images.

A Whimsical Midsummer Night’s Dream {Captured by Corrin}

Naomi — Mon, 24 Nov 2014 15:41:27 +0000

Designer Lydia Purcell and Captured by Corrin Photography, both love whimsical and vintage themes and came together to create this whimsical woodland Midsummer Night’s Dream styled shoot. They set their magical world up in the Blue Mountains, outside of Pendleton, Oregon and the mix of wildflower meadows and woodland forest was the perfect location. They used natural Oregon elements like moss, branch chandelier and wood slabs as their décor. By combining these natural elements with vintage objects and delicate peonies, they created the perfect romantic dream. We’re absolutely captivated!

From designer, Lydia:

A lot of the antiques were pulled from our personal stashes and were very meaningful. The Shakespeare books were Corrin’s great Aunt’s and the pearls were her grandmothers. The vintage camera’s belonged to my father. I also wanted to have a secret getaway for the bride and groom to run off to while enjoying their wedding cake. The sweetheart picnic takes you into an intimate setting just for two with the peeling barn window, vintage books, mosquito net curtains, sheep wool cushions and dreamy light fixture hanging above. When I mentioned to Corrin that I envisioned a world where our midsummer lovers seemed to be in a world of their own, Corrin had the idea to place a vintage bed with an antique wedding ring quilt in the middle of the meadow to enhance that world in which our couple lived, in beautiful secluded scenery.

When looking for a couple, we knew we wanted our models to be real people and genuinely in love. Our models, Stephanie Purcell and Mason Murphy, were not only a couple in love, but fit our styling and the personality of the shoot. Mason is a guide and lives in the mountains during the summer, and Stephanie is free spirit, yoga instructor. We had two dresses for the bride, my favorite being the vintage silk gown. It was a Grace Kelly style amazing ivory silk dress from the 1930s. Bias-cut with shoulder ruffle detail along with silk wrapped buttons that ran all the way up the back.

Lavender Horticultural Bridal Shower {Christa Elyce Photography}

Naomi — Thu, 25 Sep 2014 14:15:08 +0000

Casey’s September wedding theme was organic, vintage, and rustic chic, so her Maid of Honor, Nicole, hosted her August bridal shower at the perfect place: Tiny Boxwoods, a restaurant and plant nursery in Houston, Texas. Nicole wanted to find a location that would be magical and memorable for Casey. The location certainly made for an intimate and charming garden dinner with lavender roses (her wedding color scheme), lush greenery, and plenty of little lights on the tables and hidden among the surrounding garden pottery. Each place setting included a custom floral hanky, white lace fan, and cute little garden-marker-style name card. Such a beautiful way to celebrate wonderful friendship and Casey’s time as a bride! Thanks to Christa Elyce for sharing these photos.

Wedding Color Palette: Sapphire

Naomi — Fri, 05 Sep 2014 14:00:00 +0000

It’s September! That lovely time of year when the days (or at least the nights) begin to cool off, yet the crickets still keep up their summer chorus into the evening hours. It’s also when we Virgo’s get to celebrate our birthdays! Sapphire is the September birthstone and makes for a gorgeous wedding palette. Though known for its deep blue hue, this gemstone actually can come in a whole range of colors, from light or dark pink, to green, yellow or even orange and red. These great alternatives to diamonds can also be colorless, but for the purpose of this inspiration board I’ve concentrated on blue. You can keep your wedding palette more natural by adding neutral (not neon) shades of blue, and adding natural color whenever possible – for example adding naturally blue viburnum berries to your bouquet instead of flowers that are artificially dyed blue. Enjoy your month, September brides!
