You might say that Ashlyn and Seth had their headd in the clouds when they first met – Ashlyn was a flight attendant and Seth just happened to be on one of her flights as he was headed to Texas to visit some friends. He tried to get her attention a few times but she was focused on work. Finally, when she had a break Seth asked her to sit down with him and watch Duck Dynasty. 20 minutes later they were both smitten and two weeks after that he took her out on a date. “We just clicked and knew right off the bat this was “it.” Fourteen months later they were married. Their adorable barn wedding, with personal touches such as cookie cakes, was held at Antique Acres near Athens, Georgia. “When planning our wedding we knew we needed to incorporate my favorite colors, our cowboy boots, and Seth’s beloved Coca-Cola!” Thank you Brandy Angel Photography for capturing and sharing these beautiful moments!

Charming South Carolina Wedding at Litchfield Plantation

The natural beauty and southern charm of this wedding instantly swept me away! I’m in love with the stunning Ukrainian headpiece the bride’s mother brought along with her custom design wedding gown from Russia. And that sunset! Polina and Robertas truly had the type of wedding dreams are made of. Litchfield Plantation, in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina, was the perfect venue for this sweet couple as they loved the 240 year history, the dreamy landscape and the quietness of the rice fields. As Polina spoke very little English, Robertas shared her vision for her dream day with their wedding planner – romantic, soft, pretty, with shades of pink, cream, and gold. As luck would have it they found Russian photographer Pasha Belman in Myrtle Beach who would not only be able to communicate and understand their vision but created these amazing pictures.

From the Wedding Planner:

Only 10 guests were to be in attendance and all were from other countries. During our first meeting with the couple we chatted about which vendors would be a perfect fit. The minister, with a few short lessons online, was able to speak a part of the ceremony in their native language. This was a special surprise for their parents, who spoke very little English but were able to understand when their children said “I do!” It was very important for Polinas to have her bridal bouquet match a silk bouquet her Mother had made. Little did we know that when we created a bouquet filled with fragrant peonies and beautiful roses that it would perfectly match the Ukrainian headpiece her mother brought along with her custom design wedding gown from Russia.

We knew instantly that we would need to include lots of beautiful flowers, a gorgeous tablescape and lots of candles. With such a breathtaking venue, we knew that we could only enhance it. A tent frame was erected and then draped with sheer white fabric. Polinas’ love of candlelight and lighting added to the ambiance. A round table with 10 chevre chairs was placed under a crystal chandelier. We added beautiful flowers in soft shades of pink and cream, pink and gold candleholders, birdcages and designer china and crystal. Menu cards were tucked into the linen napkins. On the front side the menu was listed in English and on the back side in Russian.

A dessert table was designed with both a traditional wedding cake and a traditional Ukrainian cake specially ordered for the occasion. Although the table featured a silver tea service, the couple provided a silver Russian samovar (tea urn). The family also provided a variety of Russian candies and cookies featuring Oreshki, a cookie baked in a walnut mold, filled with Dulce de leche and traditional wedding spice cookies. Many shouts of “Gorko, Gorko” were heard throughout the night signaling that the bride and groom must kiss! The couple ended the night by dancing to “Unforgettable,” by Nat King Cole under a crystal chandelier hung in a 300 year old oak tree overlooking the rice marsh. Robertas translated for Polinas the feelings she was unable to verbalize in English. She said that the night had been magical and dreamlike with everything she imagined making the memories of the night “Unforgettable.”

Southern Vineyard Wedding {Hay Alexandra Photography}

There is so much beauty in this Southern vineyard wedding in Bluemont, Virginia! Aileen and Lloyd’s day was full of gorgeous rustic details that suited their small town beginnings. Though these two both grew up 20 minutes apart it wasn’t until they both attended Radford University that they met in geology class. Rustic, whimsical and southern were the three words they kept in mind when planning their wedding and between the mason jars, blush pink bridesmaid dresses, soft flowers and a venue filled with twinkling lights and lace, their wedding day came together like a dream. Southern has always been a part of their lives. Aileen grew up in Warrenton and Lloyd in Haymarket but it wasn’t until College that the two happened upon one another in geology class at Radford University. Aileen sat two rows behind Lloyd and found him on Facebook using the class list. She decided to message him in class and told him she sat right behind him every class and couldn’t pay attention because of him! And that’s where their love story began.

Six and a half years later Lloyd decided to do everything Aileen told him not to do when it came to the proposal. He knew Aileen would suspect too much if he followed her directions on how to propose so he did it his way. She had specifically told him to never propose to her in a restaurant and so he did just that. One night, Lloyd and Aileen went to their favorite Italian restaurant with friends. Aileen ordered a martini before dinner and when the waiter brought it out to her, there was a ring inside. Aileen was speechless. She was 100% surprised and will tell you “I didn’t even have my nails done!”

When I think of Southern charm, I think of beautiful hats, pretty parasols, blooms so gorgeous they make you sway, and irresistibly delicious treats to enjoy outside with friends. Sweet tea, peach cake, and thoughtful details like monogrammed handkerchiefs for your maids! Oh, and don’t forget the shrimp cocktail! Even if I might be stereotyping, you can’t deny that these elements make for some wonderful outdoor wedding inspiration. So go ahead and find your inner Southern belle, even if you live in the northern latitudes!

Sunrise Cotton Field Photo Shoot from Shalynne Imaging

Good morning gorgeous! When Shannon of Shalynne Imaging was visiting Louisiana from Colorado, she found herself enthralled with the beautiful cotton fields. Rising early paid off as she was met with a sky in watercolor shades of pink and gold over the fields at dawn. She happened to have Brytny (model) with her and they captured just how pretty a field of cotton can be. Cotton, though not often thought of as being incorporated into a wedding theme, has lots of potential. Check back later today to see some fantastic cotton wedding bouquet inspiration!
