I’m head over heels with today’s featured wedding which is a quirky bohemian affair! It’s all about the floral details, spring hues and a whole lot of laid-back goodness. How fun are those pretty printed invitation set, handmade macrame decor, ceremony backdrop, guest seating cards and our groom’s cute boutonniere? Randy + Ashley Studios certainly drizzled this wedding with his usual determined approach on capturing Natalie and Garrett’s big day moments.

How It All Began (Words from the Photographer)

Natalie and Garrett met nearly seven years ago, in the summer of 2010, through a friend-of-a-friend. Neither of them thought that their summer fling would end up being something so serious, but once Natalie returned to Duke University she realized that Garrett was definitely something more than just a summer fling. In fact, she even jokingly told her friends that she’d probably end up marrying him! For Garrett, there really wasn’t a singular moment where he realized that Natalie was the One for him – but eventually, he says, “I couldn’t imagine my life without her.”Altogether now: awwwww!

Extra Special Details

These handmade macramé are impressive– all of it hanging from the roof of the Ace’s ballroom.

The ceremony backdrop is definitely lovely!

Personalized goodie bags stationed at the front of their reception were a fantastic personalized touch. They were filled with baked goodies and a small bottle of Bailey’s; the tasty cookies that Natalie’s mom made.

The guest seating cards made from photos of their favorite adventures together were a big hit too!

Bohemian By The Farm

“I’d rather have flowers in my hair than diamonds in my neck.” This is what exactly our post tells us today. A simple set up by the farm yet complete with a flower crown, vintage furniture, lace textures, and a super cute puppy, this concoction is definitely one for the books. Oh dear, I just can’t help but fall madly in love with this shoot! Behind the camera was Kristine Pringle Photographers. Check out the rest of the snaps from and see what I am falling for!

The Models

Aimee and Jim’s love just jumps out of the photos. They were selected as models, but their actual wedding will take place in June of 2018 and our team will be their photographers. They met through mutual friends and their love of the water is what drew them together.

Set up with the cutest boho decor around with greys, coppers, and blush pink glass, today’s featured shoot is something worth marvelling at. Behind the lense was Rivkah Photography and her team wanted a whimsical bohemian style. I love most the smoke grenades which I agree will be a big hit to brides this year. Check out our picks from this incredible shoot and get inspired!

The Venue

This beautiful flower farm has just opened its doors to small wedding ceremonies. They sell flowers to some amazing local vendors who create magic for other weddings and events. They got dahlias, roses, peonies, herbs, lavender and so much more – definitely a florist’s heaven. Lynda showed up with her scissors and ribbon and created all the floral pieces on site.

The Outfits

Wearing a Dove grey Truvelle gown, Regal but angelic is our bride for today. The groom is looking handsome in his linen shirt and vest to complete the color scheme. A herb crown for her and blueberry boutonniere for him.

The Bouquet

Flowers featured in this bouquet consisted of the highly sought after Cafe au Lait Dahlias, beautiful Garden Roses and Hydrangeas. An abundance of Herbs including Lemon Verbena, Rosemary and Lavender for a sweet summer scent and touches of Blueberries added a fun twist to the combination. Ribbons used are a Plant Dyed Silk which complemented this all natural, ethereal styled bouquet perfectly.

The Table Setting

The table was set up using the natural elements such as the succulents, cactus, the flowers from the farm and the potted plants. The dessert plate was hand carved with the local fresh blueberries as another element.

A Rustic DIY Wedding

We’re All About The Details!

In addition to the church pews they brought in for seating, they also had blankets for additional guests to sit on, giving the ceremony a very rustic, country feel.

The tables they used for the head table were actually wooden doors that were several decades old, and all the drinking glasses for the guests were a collection of assorted colorful vintage glasses brought in.

They also had Nerf guns and a photo scavenger hunt for the guests, which gave the whole day a fun, interactive feel, which truly reflected the bride & groom’s personalities and closeness with their community.

Also, the wedding party was a mix of men and women on both sides, all wearing different colors, which was wonderfully unique.

Words of Wisdom From The Bride

Planning a wedding should be a bonding experience. Allow your husband to help make decisions. Involve your family and friends. Give yourself enough time so that you do not become overwhelmed with last minute decisions. If the weather throws a curveball, hey, it’s your day in the end all that matters are those two words, I DO. HAVE FUN! We certainly did. I had a moments of anxiety when we had a few days left, that is when my husband would grab me and remind me of the important things daily.

Words of Wisdom From The Photographer

My biggest piece of advice would be to be yourselves, and having your wedding and wedding details reflect that. Sure there are traditions, but at the end of the day, when you make your wedding entirely your own it will be that much more unforgettable, special and a great story to tell. I would also recommend using the resources you have in your friends and family : Johanna and Chuck had their community come together to help make this wedding happen, and it turned out beautifully.
