Rustic Yosemite Wedding {Amy Atkins Photography}

by in — Updated July 29, 2013

For Elise and Aaron, a nature-loving couple who got engaged on top of Half Dome, a wedding ceremony with a view of the monolithic granite wall and one of Yosemite’s famous waterfalls behind them was nothing short of perfect. Letting the nature of Yosemite National Park rein as the primary décor was a natural choice, and for all other details they crafted brightly colored bouquets, centerpieces, and signs subtly inspired by “UP,” the first movie they saw together. Elise and Aaron also chose to forgo the typical discomfort of dressy shoes for sparkly TOMS for the ladies and customized Nike’s for the guys. Their fun-filled day ended with the extraordinary super moon rising in the night sky. A lifetime commitment on a once-in-a-lifetime kind of day. Thanks Amy Atkins Photography for sharing this with us!

Details of the Day:

Most of Elise and Aaron’s wedding details were put together by friends and family. They used the ever popular Pinterest to gather ideas and also arranged the flowers after picking them up from the Los Angeles Flower Mart.

Each of the boys had their names (or nick names) customized on their shoes thanks to Nike ID shoes online.  Elise wore TOMS in a sparkle blue to continue the tradition of “something blue”.

Something old and borrowed was the 120 year old vintage glamour veil that has been handed down in the family since its original owner (as engraved on the little metal piece on the veil).

The Reception at Wawona Hotel in the Sun Room was intimate and certainly preserved the vintage hotel’s antique details. The reception was casual with an open bar, fun games, golfing, and only the best family and friends. The bean bag toss was created with the couple in mind – hand painted and glossed by the bride’s mom and dad.

Guests left with mason jars of hand-made blueberry muffin mix with instructions on how to enjoy Aaron & Elise’s favorite breakfast.
