Nipmoose Barn Engagement by Upstate Photographers

Christine and Matt, who first met on Match.com, recently had their engagement shoot by Upstate Photographers at the historic barns of Nipmoose in the pastoral area of Buskirk, New York. These barns are extraordinary examples of early timber framed structures, positioned centrally on the 123 acre Nipmoose Farm. I absolutely love the shot of them standing in the grove of birch trees. So picturesque! Read below for their story.

Before the Ring:
Matt & I met on Match.com a little over two years ago.  Matt was newly relocated to the area for school and I had recently moved to the area for my job. We began chatting & emailing back and forth for hours when we finally decided that we wanted to meet and go out on a date. But this couldn’t have come at a worse time since Matt informed me that he was heading home to Alabama for 3 weeks over Christmas break.  Even though it was a little frustrating, we were able to get to know each other through long daily phone conversations which made us look forward to meeting in person even more!  After much discussion about where we would go on our first date we decided to go to dinner and a hockey game.  When we arrived at the restaurant we were led to our table, I went to sit down in a chair when Matt grabbed the back of the chair.  My first thought was that Matt wanted to sit there so I quickly moved to the next chair…quickly to learn that he was attempting to pull the chair our for me. I wasn’t used to his southern chivalry!

The Proposal:
Months later, we were in Matt’s home town on the Gulf coast for his birthday.  We went to dinner, and he was acting weird and kept touching the pocket on his shorts.  As we were walking on the beach that night I was talking a mile a minute like normal and he wasn’t saying hardly anything at all. I could tell he was nervous, but had no idea why.  When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday (two days later), I turned around to find him down on one knee, pulling a diamond ring out of his pocket and said he wanted for me to be his wife! (Apparently, he kept touching his pocket because he was worried the ring was going to fall out).  I started crying and jumping up and down, and immediately fireworks exploded in the sky. Literally! Some guys right down the beach set of fireworks and the timing was perfect. It was a dream come true, and I’m thrilled to say we’re even happier together day.
