Rachael and Paul are such a beautiful couple! They will be tying the knot in August at a barn wedding at the Wildwood Family Farms in West Michigan (where Rachael has lots of DIY details planned). To keep with the theme, for part of the session, they chose a barn backdrop which goes so well with their sunny, casual personalities. they finished out the day at Kirk Park in West Olive, Michigan (on Lake Michigan) for some sunset photos and a little wine tasting, complete with their very own personalized bottle of wine, “Adore.” Read below for how they met and their creative corn maze proposal story.
From the Bride…
Before the Ring:
My friend from work planned to set Paul and I up without telling us. She had me come over to her house, where I was unaware that he was waiting to meet me, so that we could ride together to a karaoke night with friends. She introduced us and we all rode to the restaurant together. When we arrived I didn’t know for sure that she was trying to set us up until I heard his and my name announced over the microphone to sing “What was I thinkin” by Dirks Bentley. So we sang a country song together and chatted a little bit that night. After that night, he called me up over the next few days to go on a date. From there, the rest is history : )
For the proposal Paul made arrangements with Robinette’s Apple Orchard. They normally have a sheet of clues that, when answered correctly, leads you through their corn maze, and Paul decided to design his own sheet and clues. The questions on the clue sheet were all things that happened throughout our relationship and I was stunned at how accurately the questions and answers pertained to us. The clues lead us right up to the end of the maze, where Paul had friends set up a beautiful display with lanterns and rose petals. I was in so much shock after he proposed that he wondered if I had paused so long because I was thinking about how to turn him down! Really I was just trying to spit out the word yes but it took a while to blurt it out. I’m still amazed at how perfect he set it all up and that throughout the whole maze I had no clue of what was coming up.
