Oh the colors of autumn…along with mountain scenery and the smiling faces of two newlyweds – nothing quite compares! Lauren and Chad were married in the western mountain town of Durango, Colorado and had their reception at the Strater Hotel with a charming wild west atmosphere. The brisk fall day and brilliant yellow and orange leaves made for some stunning photos by Christina Kiffney Photography. I adore the shot of them kissing among the aspen trees and sunny yellow, heart-shaped leaves. The bouquets of orange lilies were the perfect complimenting hue to the natural colors in the landscape that day. Read below for their story.
Before the Ring:
Chad and I met in high school. We both had crushes on each other, but never did anything about it! Almost ten years later we reconnected for lunch and we’ve spoken every single day since.
Chad surprised me after a fun birthday weekend for a friend in Salida by kneeling down next to my car door since it was sprinkling rain outside, telling me the sweetest things like he always had, but this time he pulled out the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen! I couldn’t believe it!
Details of the Day:
The wedding day was perfect, we both loved having our friends and family in town for the weekend. The weather was brisk, but it turned out to be a gorgeous fall day. One of my very dear friends did the flowers for the whole wedding, which made it extremely special for us. We had our reception at the historic Strater Hotel in downtown Durango, CO. It was the best party I’ve been to! All the guests were up on the dance floor the entire night – great fun!! The best part of the day was being surrounded by family and friends and having all of their help preparing and supporting us.
Christina Kiffney is the best. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone getting married. She is very professional, fun and easy going. Hands down best photographer I could have chosen. The Strater hotel was an excellent spot to have our reception. Emily Spencer with the Strater helped ease our stress and worked so hard to make everything work smoothly, making the evening more fun than we could have imagined.
