The pink and coral tones of this wedding are simply delicious. Heidi’s peachy rose and cream cascading bouquet is nothing short of perfect, and a detail of rosy pearls gave it an extra touch of luster. This Georgia wedding is full of so many graceful details, from the fairytale-like walkway at the ceremony and rose bush note tree (a brilliant guest book alternative) to personalized candy and a bubble send-off in the evening. Heidi and Ray also chose to do a “first look” and the photos leave a permanent smile on my face. Read below for how they met and their proposal story (involving a feline friend).
Before the Ring:
Ray and I met on Match.com! Our first date was Feb 13, 2011. We had lunch on the lawn at Peidmont Park and Ray switched his travel plans around that night so we could spend more time together. We had an exciting summer with trips such as Maui and Grand Cayman for Thanksgiving.
On Dec.23rd of that year, with the help of my cat Sammy, Ray proposed! Ray tied a red ribbon around Sammy’s neck and the ring of my dreams was dangling. Ray got down on one knee…It was the best day of my life! Of course I said YES. And we started looking for a venue in February. My Mom and I looked at a couple of places but really fell in love with Big Canoe. We wanted a place where the guests could stay if they wanted. Whether it be one night or make it a long weekend. There is a lot to do in Big Canoe and I’m so glad my guests took advantage of it.
Details of the Day:
There are several options for ceremony and reception sites at Big Canoe. Ray and I chose The Canoe Lodge beach for our ceremony. It was just beautiful and such a natural setting. There is a walkway that comes down from a small island which is where I and my wedding party used as an “aisle”. I just loved the intimacy and uniqueness of the beach. We had one of the band members play acoustic guitar during our ceremony. He played and sang “Marry Me.” Besides writing our own vows, that was the most memorable part of the ceremony.
We chose The Chimneys as our reception site. This can be an indoor or outdoor site. Both are beautiful and full of potential. We had our wedding both indoors and out. Starting with a beautiful cheese table outside for cocktail hour and then moving inside for the rest of the wedding. The food was catered by Talk of The Town and was so delicious! We worked with Peggy Echols who was amazing and so patient and helpful. Our band was The Retreat. They were great from day one. Young and hip, they kept the vibe up the whole time and listened to what we wanted. There were guests offering to pay money so they would play longer! We had an awesome time on the dance floor that night : ) I never knew my husband had moves like that!
We topped the night off leaving in a BMW 6 series convertible my Dad rented for us! Too bad the speed limit is 25 in Big Canoe!
