DIY Outdoor Hacienda Wedding {from Ashley Davis Photography}

by in — Updated April 26, 2013

Jasmine and Nick had their gorgeous September wedding in Cerillos, New Mexico at Hacienda Dona Andrea. With distant mountain views, sweet little porticos, and that blue, blue sky, their wedding was truly a showstopper. Photographed by Ashley Davis Photography, their day was full of festive details that give off a relaxed, joyful vibe. I’m in love with Jasmine’s Gatsbyesque gown by Jenny Packham. It reflects her elegant style while tying in so nicely with the natural elements such as the sage sticks purchased at the local farmers market, and the romantic outdoor lighting at their reception. Enjoy!

From the Bride

Details of the Day:
We did lots of DIY. My friends decorated the altar, I made the seating cards, another friend designed and created the menus, we did our own invites using Minted and added some embellishments (feathers!), my stepmom made the table numbers, our friends did guest DJ sets, and another friend did the bouquets. I was going to try to do the flowers myself, until someone (wisely) talked me out of it. But in the end, I loved that all the handmade touches made the whole thing feel very relaxed and personal.

Most Memorable Moment:
I loved it all! But sitting under the glow of the string lights on the patio surrounded by mountains after the ceremony and listening to heartfelt speeches from my dad and maid of honor was pretty great. At that point, all my nerves were gone and I knew all I had to do for the rest of the night was relax and enjoy having everyone I love all in one place.

Advice to future brides:
Don’t underestimate what a big undertaking planning a wedding is and don’t be afraid to ask for help. I tried to do so much of it myself and finally realized I just needed ask a few trusted people to be sounding boards — in other words, someone besides my fiance to help me talk through all the millions of tiny decisions you have to make. Otherwise we were just stressing out by ourselves and would lose perspective.
