Wedding Flower Inspiration: Lovely Lavender

This flower, with its gorgeous purple hue, is actually an herb in the mint family and has a cool, relaxing scent. Lavender has been one of the most popular medicinal herbs since ancient times, used to help ease headaches, nervousness (not a bad thing to have under your nose as you walk down the aisle!), and even indigestion according to Penelope Ody, professional medical herbalist and author of The Complete Medicinal Herbal (a beautiful book that you should definitely check out). It also makes for an impeccably stunning wedding flower. A bouquet made entirely of lavender has at once that rustic charm, and French elegance that would go so well with a vintage lace gown. Also use it for an aromatic place setting, cake decoration, hair wreath, centerpiece, or make lavender sachets for your guests to take home with them. I could go on about this flower for a very long time, but I’ll let you take a look at some wonderful ideas below.

  1. […] Who wouldn’t love to get married in a field of lavender? I’ve long been in love with the dreamy purple hues of these flowers, and find this styled shoot in Sonoma, California, by KT Merry Photography absolutely beautiful – a sort of rustic romance meets French farmhouse elegance. Sara, of Sara Jean Events and Maria, of Dreamy Whites, along with several other talented vendors (see below) did a wonderful job of piecing together the details. I love the delicate place settings, a stem of lavender on each card, the lavender sprigs in vintage glass bottles as centerpieces. The charming bouquets by Blooms by Martha are some of my all-time favorites. Click here for more lovely lavender inspiration! […]
